Overview: Lighting soccer fields Latam


The project Community Light Centers is a global initiative of Philips Corporate Social Responsibility, which aims to stimulate children and youths to sports practicing, community integration and social development, as well as expansion of more sustainable Lighting technologies, energy efficiency and use of renewable energies.

Global investment of 2 million Light Centers were already delivered in cities in Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. 100 Light Centers in Africa and Latin America, being 30 in 10 Latam countries, to be launched until April 2014

What is a Light Center?


Its a small soccer field (1000m2) lit up by 4 or 6 8 meter-high lampposts. Light Centers are not only used for sports, but also for many other activities healthcare, education, social, commercial extending the day by enabling community life after dark

Main responsibility: integration with community and local know-how, installation

Regional technical agent: IDEAAS. Main responsibility: coordinate introduction of the new
technologies, integrate local NGOs

Community agent: Community leaders, residents association, school, NGO with knowledge about
the place. The owner of the sports field. Main responsibility: promote ownership, make the light center run day-by-day activities
