    Toimplementthetailsmod,weneedtohavetheabilitytoturntherepeatsonandoff(quietly)
    fromtheinput/outputstagesofthedelay.ThisisdonebyusinganSPDTfootswitchalittlebitof
    switchingcircuitryusingaFET.
    Thetailsmodreplacesthedecouplingcapfromtheinputstagethatnormallyfeedsourdrysignal
    intothedelaymachine.HereisanexampleusingtheZeroPointSDXschematic.
    Thebiasoutputoftheopamp(4.5v)feedsthedrainofQ1topowerthetransistorandthesignalis
    switchedonandoffbyapplyingvoltagetothegate.ValveWizardsuggestsusingtheJ112
    switchingtransistorhere,butIhavetesteditwitha2n5457withgreatresults.Signalloadingis
    minimalacouplehundredohmsofresistanceacrossthedrainandsource. WhenBYPis
    switchedto9v,itlightstheLEDtoindicateactivationaswell.

    Caveats:
    UsingtheTailsmodmeansyourguitarsignalwillalwaysfeedthroughtheinput/outputstages
    ofwhateverdelayyouimplementiton.So,youareatthemercyofhowwellitisdesignedand
    youcanexpectittoalteryourdrysignalabit.Itwillbeprettymuchthesameasputtingahigh
    impedanceinput,lowimpedanceoutputbufferorgainstageinyoursignalpath.Thismayor
    maynotbedesirable.
    AswithanyPT2399delay,settingtheDelaycontrolatmax(whengoingupto600msor
    beyond)willintroducesomenoiseintothesignalpath.Thisnoisewillpersisttoyourdrysignal
    evenwhenthedelayisbypassedwiththetailsmod.
    Onepossiblewaytoavoidthisistoputthetailsmodontheoutputdecouplerofthedelay
    signal(thecaprightaftertheMixknob)andusearesistorinparallelwithC1tosetadecay
    rateforswitchingthetailsmodoff.However,thishasnotbeentestedandmayproduce
    undesirablefadeoutsontherepeatswhenthedelayisswitchedoff.Experimentandevaluate
    thisideaonyourown.
