LAB gain from NOC
Labour easily held o a predicted SNP onslaught to hold on to Glasgow, securing 44 seats to the SNPs 27. In Edinburgh, the Lib Dem/SNP coalition was in disarray after Lib Dem leader Jenny Dawe lost her seat, along with 12 of her colleagues. Labour and the SNP made gains elsewhere in Scotland at the expense of the Conservatives and Lib Dems.

CARLISLE
LAB gain from NOC
Labour took two seats from the Conservatives and two from the Lib Dems to win control of Conservative target Carlisle, with 27 out of 51 seats. In Chorley, a Lib/Con coalition was unseated after Labour gained three seats from the Tories.

BIRMINGHAM
LAB gain from NOC
Labour took 20 more seats on Birmingham council, taking control as the Conservatives lost 11 and the Lib Dems nine. Labour also won control of Dudley, taking 13 seats from the Conservatives. Walsall Borough Council remained under no overall control. In the key battleground of Harlow, Labour took ve seats to take control of the council.

DERBY
LAB gain from NOC
Labour took control of Derby City Council for the rst time in six years, taking power from a Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition. Labour now has 28 seats on the council to the Conservatives 14 and 9 for the Liberal Democrats.

CARDIFF
LAB gain from NOC
Labour regained Cardi from the Liberal Democrats and unseated their leader Rodney Berman, capping a strong performance in Wales, taking overall control of nine councils and gaining 231 councillors. The Conservatives lost 61 councillors and the Lib Dems 66. Plaid Cymru missed out on overall control of Gwynedd and lost 41 councillors.
LONDON*

CAMBRIDGE
LIB loss NOC
The Lib Dems lost overall control of Cambridge, a former stronghold. Labour gained four seats, leaving 21 Lib Dems, 19 Labour, 1 Conservative and 1 Independent. Peterborough stays under Tory control despite a Labour gain of ve seats. South Cambridgeshire also remained Tory, with the party gaining one seat.

PLYMOUTH
LAB gain from CON
The Conservatives lost control of Plymouth, with Labour winning 31 of 57 seats. Labour also gained control of Exeter City Council for the rst time since 2004. The Tories lost overall control of Gloucester City Council as Labour took one crucial seat in the Grange ward.

SOUTHAMPTON
LAB gain from CON
The Conservatives lost control of Southampton to Labour. Labour gained 11 seats, leaving them with 30 of the 48 seats. The Tories lost 10 seats leaving them with just 16 councillors. The Lib Dems now have two seats. The Tories held Winchester, Havant, Rushmoor, Basingstoke, Fareham and Gosport.
