Six months ago President Trump announced that he would soon be declaring that the opioid crisis pummeling America today is a national emergency that calls for special legislation and regulation. This important policy shift was brought about by the President’s own Commission on Opioid Addiction. The deaths from drug overdoses continue to skyrocket in the United States, despite the federal government’s most stringent efforts. Here’s how it’s all working out on the federal level, and further on down the line:
