Feel free to use the names interchangeably. If you’re not aware of this egregious panjandrum of corporate greed, the pipeline connects the Bakken oil fields of North Dakota with a refinery in central Illinois. The problem is that said pipeline has been routed through Sioux tribal land promised in the 1851 Treaty of Fort Laramie, but was then forcibly taken back.
