⁘ Scraps of assorted print fabrics — you need 48 pieces at least 6½in square (large petals)
⁘ 1.55m (1¾yd) red spot print fabric (small petals, border and binding)
⁘ 55cm (⅝yd) green spot print fabric (flower centres and border scallops)
⁘ 20cm (¼yd) each of 11 grey print fabrics (block backgrounds)
⁘ 3.2m (3½yd) backing fabric
⁘ Batting at least 155cm (62in) square
⁘ Template plastic and permanent-marking pen
⁘ Scrap of cardboard
⁘ Appliqué glue or pins
⁘ Mechanical pencil or fine-point erasable fabric-marking pen
⁘ Spray starch
⁘ Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
⁘ Sewing machine with ¼in foot

Cut the fabric
Trace each of the shapes from the Pattern Sheet on to template plastic, label them and cut them out just inside the traced lines. These templates do Also trace around the flower centre on a scrap of cardboard and cut the shape out neatly on the traced line.
