Some cafés pride themselves on heritage and longevity, and in 20 years’ time, that’s exactly what Chino and Co “est 2017” hopes to be known for in the Beaumaris community.
Café Manager Kirsty Walsh says they’re already on their way, with staff knowing most customers by name.
“Our focus is all about quick and friendly service with high-quality coffee. We want Chino and Co to be the place locals call home,” Kirsty says.
Chino and Co is a joint venture between Kirsty and brothers Maurizio and Max Barba.
The site, previously a milk bar, is located just two minutes from Beaumaris beach and right next door to a new school development opening in 2018.
Wander into this suburban café, and you’ll find a hidden gem that’s bright and fresh with timber furnishings, white walls, and a feature “bluebird” colour that appears in the interior tiles, customised La Marzocco machine, cups, and chairs.
“You’d never guess we like blue,” Kirsty laughs. “We want our customers to come to our café and enjoy themselves, be comfortable, then tell their friends about their positive experience.”

“We wanted to try a roaster that was new to this area and surprise our customers with something special on the coffee menu,” Kirsty says.
