'N' gauge ‘Nodding Donkey’
ALWAYS likely to be a challenging multiple unit to produce in ‘N’ gauge, the Dapol Class 142 ‘Pacer’ has been in development for at least seven years, although some modellers may feel its been longer than that. Was it worth the wait? Well, on first impressions, it does have the appearance and character of a Class 142 ‘Pacer’, and Dapol has overcome the challenges presented by the long fixed-wheelbase chassis to produce a model with a good degree of technical specification.
A total of 96 Class 142s were built with Leyland bus body modules fitted to a rigid fixed-wheelbase underframe, which resembled something found under air-braked freight wagons and a feature well represented by the model.
