Synced oscillator sounds are a mainstay of the timbres used for lead synth. Let’s explore some ways we can set them up for some interactive and expressive fun.
That Syncing Feeling
The basic science of oscillator sync is that the first oscillator (called the master, and usually Osc 1) is set to track the keyboard, providing the correct pitch reference. It modulates the second oscillator (called the slave, usually Osc 2) so that the period, or cycle of Osc 2 is reset every time Osc 1 finishes a cycle.
