New electrics for Hornby’s centenary

TWO brand new models are among a busy programme of diesel and electric releases in Hornby’s centenary year.

Electric traction modellers will be delighted with the Class 370 Advanced Passenger Train (APT) which is a considerable undertaking given the number of vehicles and the different types used within each of the ill-fated tilting trains built for the West Coast main line.

A little more up to date is the Class 91, both of which replace considerably older Hornby models. No new Mk.4 and DVT models have been added to the range for 2020.

In all, nearly 50 different motive power products ranging from the tiny Ruston & Hornsby 48DS shunter to the APT and Class 390 ‘Pendolino’ finished in the unit that launched ‘Azuma’ on the famous ‘Highland Chieftain’ Kings Cross-Inverness service (R3827) together with a special LNER tartan, are included in the range.
