Much of the delay in finishing the SWM came from the need to sort out the rear swing arm which was, not to put too fine a point on it… knackered. These alloy units are nigh on unobtainable, so finding a better replacement was not an option. The only, and somewhat daunting, way forward was to repair what I had.
Resurrecting the all-alloy unit proved quite a challenge. One shock absorber mount had been poorly repaired in the past and looked awful, the other side was cracked through the weld while underneath the arm an ugly, large and incorrect boss had been badly welded on for
