ALBUM OF THE MONTH
Levon Vincent World Order Music
Novel Sound
Few people have more of an innate connection to New York’s house music spirit than Levon Vincent. Despite basing himself in Berlin since 2009, the Texan-born DJ, producer and label owner has also been a key figure in the rejuvenation of the city’s house scene too. Now, the ever-evolving and addictively authentic producer returns with his superb third studio album. Following on from 2015‘s accomplished self-titled debut and 2017‘s critically praised , Vincent is back with the wonderful,. Like all Vincent records, the album is full of colour, life and personality. There is a euphoric, uplifting tone throughout the record, which feels like a celebration of the dance music that Vincent has been so immersed in throughout life. Combining elements of house, disco, techno, minimal, old-school, UK rave and choral music, traverses styles, time periods and continents with consummate ease. What really makes this album stand out is Vincent’s ability to seamlessly blend his love of the intoxicating sounds of New York’s electronic music with his love of minimal composers such as Steve Reich and La Monte Young. Stretched-out, ambient and cinematic landscapes unfurl alongside dancefloorprimed cuts, that bristle with stabbing synths, deep, raw basslines, flickering melodies and immersive rhythms. Positive, expressive and direct, this is Levon Vincent’s most accomplished and vibrant work to date. Once again expanding the dialogue on the boundaries of electronic music, Levon Vincent continues to push house music with heart and soul.
