In 1917, Chicagoan Antonio Pasin began building child-size wooden wagons he sold through local shops. Pasin’s business grew into the Liberty Coaster Company, which he formed in 1923 and named for the Statue of Liberty. Soon, demand for Liberty Coaster wagons was exceeding production.
