These are cars that run on two fuel types, combining a petrol or diesel engine with electrical energy. The goal is to avoid running cars on fossil fuels alone, reducing emissions. They’re not as green as electric cars, but can be seen as a useful stepping stone. Some don’t need to be plugged in at all; plug-ins, however, such as the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, are the best for the environment.
