AMERICAN SPIRIT

“THERE’S A CASUAL LUXURIOUSNESS TO THE HOME AND THE OWNERS LOVE THAT ABOUT IT.”

ontext was everything for interior designer Greg Natale in creating this American southwest-inspired holiday home in Oklahoma, US. ? The owners of this We opened up the house and added a large outdoor terrace offering a direct connection between indoors and out. Seasonally, the weather changes rapidly from snow to tornados to perfect summer days so we were able to provide the best of all worlds for the young family. Cultural context was important for this one. I love the southwest aesthetic and it’s something I don’t often get the opportunity to explore! There is something exciting about being able to bend my own aesthetic, lean in to new styles and sensitively explore ideas within the context of the property. Pattern is always a big part of what I do and this home allowed me to explore that in a way that I haven’t been able to before. We used a lot of American brands – we looked to local suppliers and really engaged with their products. There are a lot of pieces from Ralph Lauren, from furniture to wallpaper. We used some items from Martyn Lawrence Bullard and complemented those with accents from RH. On a decorative level, we scoured local stores with antiques and pre-loved wares to find those characterful elements. Typically this home is only used once a year, so it needed to be welcoming and homely after a long flight but not high maintenance. There’s a casual luxuriousness to the home and the owners love that about it.
