Let the plane take the strain

Your roving syndicate, eight of you, have booked a couple of days back-to-back shooting in Scotland, possibly on the islands, or are heading farther afield to shoot partridge in Spain. How do you all get there?

One option would be to get the sleeper train, which still runs to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen and Fort William, and you can take your guns. However, it’s a slow journey and it certainly isn't cheap. You’ve also got to get from one of those destinations to your shoot, and ScotRail banned the carrying of firearms in 2017.

Flying is a more practical option, but today you will struggle to get a budget airline to accept your gun, and taking cartridges is usually out of
