The Art of LEGACY

Bill Meek has a picture of himself at 7 years old in Paris.

“My father was a captain in the Army, and we lived in Europe for six years,” he says. “In 1958, we drove to France from our home in Italy in a 1952 Ford station wagon. I have no idea how we got that thing through the narrow streets.” The family ended up in Montmartre in front of Sacré-Coeur, where Bill’s dad took a picture of him “in my little alpine hat” standing behind an artist who was painting.

“That photograph is so emblematic of what would be my future. Essentially what I do as an art dealer is stand behind the artist, watching what they do and getting excited about what they do. I transfer that excitement to people who might be interested in that artist’s work.”
