The fallow deer may not be a true a native of Britain but it has been with us so long that we tend to treat it as one. It first came to our shores from the Middle East with the Romans or perhaps Phoenician traders and its remains have been found on Roman archaeological sites.
Whether the fallow managed to make it into the wild is another matter, however. If a few did escape it is unlikely
