A SCHOOL FOR PROFESSIONAL HUNTERS

The picturesque town of Vanderkloof on the banks of the Vanderkloof Dam, is, amongst other things, home to the Northern Cape Professional Hunting School (“NCPHS”). The latter is owned and operated by longtime professional hunter and outfitter Mynhard Herholdt. Mynhard was trained as a professional hunter by the legendary Johan Calitz in 1993, shortly after Mynhard’s stint in the old SA Defence Force. After his training Mynhard established his own professional hunting outfit and a solid overseas clientele, before venturing into the business of training professional hunters himself. His NCPHS was established in 2011.

NCPHS’s home base is in a former hotel in Vanderkloof, whilst Mynhard’s beautiful 6 000-hectare farm, Panorama, serves as a training area where the students hunt with clients to build up experience. The availability of a huge farm with numerous game species, including buffalo, allows the students to gain experience in hunting a variety of animals. Students are also placed with other outfitters from time to time to gain additional experience.
