PROPOSED SA LAW CHANGES MAY THREATEN RHINO CONSERVATION EFFORTS
South Africa’s Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, recently introduced proposed changes to the Private Security Industry Regulatory Act, 2001.
The changes seek to prohibit the use of semi-automatic rifles by security firms for any use other than the protection of valuable assets in transit.
It is feared that these proposed changes to the act, if allowed to go through, may severely jeopardise rhino protection
