In just a decade, our idea of hi-fi systems has changed dramatically. There has been the general rush to convenience products, but even for those sticking with full quality hi-fi using a proper amplifier and speakers, everything has changed in the way we consume music. Computers and smart devices are now key sources, either replacing or adding to CD and vinyl.
Peachtree Audio was founded on this very change, the rise of the computer. Its first product in 2007 was the Decco amplifier, claimed as the world’s first amp with a USB input to play straight from computer. How times have changed — today we look askance at any amplifier that doesn’t have a USB input.
Ten years on, Peachtree has entered what it unofficially calls ‘Peachtree 2.0’. It’s part philosophy, part action, with Peachtree giving new emphasis to real hi-fi dealers over internet sales, hiring a new engineering team and, perhaps most remarkably, assembling and building their products in Canada, rather than China.
