ARCHER OF THE DECADE: 2010-2019

In January 2020 I was asked, as as a resident ‘expert’, to contribute to a piece for World Archery on who was the archer of the decade. It wasn’t that easy making a final pick, as there were more than a few options, and picking one archer across a sport divided forever into hard categories is, of course, impossible. However, four clearly stood out across the two main World Archery bowstyles. If you follow the sport, the names will probably not surprise you, but I’m going to explain the why in a bit more detail – and why I think they should be in this particular order.

4. MIKE SCHLOESSER

Dutchman Mike Schloesser has had an extraordinary decade by any standards. Right in the middle of the decade, in Nimes, January 2015, he became the first man to score 600 out of 600 in World Archery indoor competition, leading to the nickname Mr Perfect.
