“Mum won’t face Dad’s sexual abuse of me as a child”

Q My mother and I have been estranged for five years, due to me revealing childhood sexual abuse by my father. She and my dad refuse to acknowledge the abuse (other relatives have also confronted him). She has been manipulated and controlled by my father for their entire relationship. She is depressed and unhappy. She emails me every month, pleading for contact.

She’s never once asked how I’m coping with the aftermath of the abuse, yet its effects continue in all areas of my life. Up until now, I’ve ignored her emails as her state of mind is unhealthy for me. Do you have any advice? Name supplied
