A lady not for turning

Gundog trainer Sam Thatcher is a great believer in never giving up. Passionate about her cocker spaniels, she has made herself a leading competitor on the British spaniel field trial circuit. The 30-year-old mother from Hampshire has always had a desire to work with dogs and she inspires many in what they can do to transform their own working dogs.

“I wanted to work with wolves when I was younger and I’ve always had an interest in dogs,” she tells me. “I’m passionate about puppies through to the old dogs – I love working with the ones that have quirks and enjoy analysing their mindset and behaviour. I like a challenge and always find a way to push through an issue. It’s about getting inside the mindset of a dog and being one step ahead.
