Researchers at Massey University are exploring the potential for New Zealand to become perhaps the first country in the world to grow gin-suited junipers as. Juniper berries are actually seed cones, rather than fruit, and are used as a spice (but beware: some varieties are toxic). Herbalists use extract of juniper as a health tonic, and oil of juniper is used in perfume.
