Holocaust survivor testimonies published
The stories of 16 Holocaust survivors and refugees are now told in their own words on a new website.
The Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR) launched) on Holocaust Memorial Day on 27 January. The website currently holds 15 free short e-books telling the stories of 16 of the last first-hand survivors of Nazi persecution, who sought safety in Britain and made a life here. One book is narrated by a married couple, Julia and Janos Fisher. The books are based on interviews with the subjects by trained volunteers. The AJR will continue to add new books. The day after the website launched the AJR announced that one of the interviewees, Katinka Seiner-Easton, had died at the age of 88. Katinka was born in Hungary and survived the Nazi occupation in hiding before becoming an acclaimed singer in Britain. She wrote that the message of her memoir is that “evil doesn’t win”.
