THE RANSOMES SAGA

I think it is high time I threw my rose-tinted specs away. Once again it appears that I have bought another machine that has been bodge repaired.

I mentioned the repaired flywheel in a previous instalment of this Ransomes saga. It was now time to get it off and see what was going on. The manual, such as it is, states that an extractor is screwed into the internal thread of the flywheel after removing the nut.

Not enough

after cleaning the remnants of said thread out with a pick, it seems some bright spark has machined most of the thread away leaving just a trace of the apex of the threads. The plan was to measure the thread and make an extractor, but in my opinion, there is not enough thread left to
