Final Class 745 put into service

THE only Class 745 yet to operate in service, No. 745008, undertook its debut revenue-earning working on December 11, when it formed the 1P13/07.03 Norwich-Liverpool Street, returning to Norwich at 09.30.

Its entry to traffic means that the entire fleet of ‘Flirt’ units, comprising 20 Class 745 EMUs and 38 Class 755 bi-mode units, have now been put into use.

It was back on July 29, 2019 when the first of the new units, No. 755410 entered traffic. The last ‘755’ was put into traffic just under a year later. The Class 745 fleet, used on the Norwich and Stansted routes, first appeared in January 2020. A full month-by-month listing of entry dates for the Class 745s appears in the accompanying table.

November 24 saw what is understood to be the first appearance at Liverpool Street of a Class 755 on a timetabled service. No. 755412 operated the 1P35/12.00 Norwich-Liverpool Street and 1P36/14.30 return.
