BOWERS & WILKINS 600 SERIES 2 ANNIVERSARY EDITION
For a quarter of a century, the 600 Series has been the most affordable set of designs available from the speaker line-up of Bowers & Wilkins. And the loudspeakers in this Series are proof positive that a company that makes some of the most expensive and esoteric loudspeakers in the world, such as the famous Nautilus ($100,000+ per pair), can also deliver outstandingly good sound for those of us on more modest budgets.
One of the reasons B&W has been so successful over the years is that it is one of the very few loudspeaker manufacturers that makes speakers that are used both in the home and in the recording studio. Yes, there are other companies — JBL is one — that are equally successful in both arenas, but mostly those companies make completely different ‘studio monitor’ models for use in recording studios. In the case of B&W, however, the models you’ll find in a recording studio are exactly the same as those you’ll find in a hi-fi showroom. And you might be surprised to learn that it’s not only B&W’s larger, more imposing models that are in those studios — you’ll see plenty of B&W 600 series speakers there as well, particularly the 607.
