Finally, some pigeons have arrived in my area. I am pleased to see them, but the farmer is less impressed. I have been scanning social media and it’s clear from the pigeon forums that there are plenty around and some large bags are being shot, mainly in Oxfordshire to my west and Lincolnshire to the north. But it seems to be very patchy around the country.

The pigeon are still in large flocks before they split up to nest and breed. Areas where they are feeding will have a large population and the areas where they aren’t, very few. I
