The Shopaholic books are too cute. (I'm not like Becky! I'm not!) I originally started reading them as a substitute for Bridget Jones, who sadly only had two books of her own. Becky Bloomwood is very Bridget-esque. But she is also a funny pop heroine in her own right.

This was another great Kinsella book - the shopaholic series is so fun! Becky Brandon gets herself into all sorts of zany situations but it always turns out well in the end. I'm hoping there will be more in this series.

The same quirky characters and breezy plot with a lot less of the covering-up-a-lie, endless-shopping-designer-brand-name-dropping and horrific-hidden-credit-card-bill stuff that was getting a little old. Shopaholic series is one you will love or hate (regardless of how into designer labels you are). I still like.

Fifth in the Shopaholic series featuring Becky, the compulsive - but very kindhearted - shopping addict. In this story, she and Luke have been married for about a year and are expecting their first baby. So, naturally, Becky finds herself visiting a whole new selection of shops, looking for prams, baby clothes, and vast arrays of other paraphernalia that are apparently necessary to bring a new person into the world.

She is also determined to register with Venetia Carter, a famous obstetrician... only to find that she's an old Cambridge flame of Luke's. And Venetia seems determined to captivate Luke all over again, while making Becky feel as unattractive as she possibly can. Luke appears distracted and Becky worries that she's losing him.

It could be dreary, it could be nothing but fluff... but Sophie Kinsella is a gifted writer. In the first few chapters I actually laughed aloud a couple of times - very unusual for me! - and then found myself reading late into the night, wondering what would happen. While some of the people in the book are undoubtedly caricatures, including Becky herself at one level, I can't help liking her very much and rooting for her throughout.

The baby isn't actually born until the final pages, so the book could perhaps have been called 'Shopaholic and Bump'; however I like the way that the baby is considered as a person throughout.

I read the first four books in quite the wrong order, but it didn't really matter - and look forward now to reading the sixth and final Shopaholic book.

Entertaining. This was fun, an entertaining read while driving. I was listening to the abridged version though, so I can't be sure whether the longer one would have been an improvement or not, but journeys didn't feel so long while this book was playing. It is actually book 5 of a series, but that didn't matter much, the characters all introduced themselves pretty effectively. I'd previously listened to Shopaholic Ties the Knot (3), also out of order, and that wasn't a problem either.Becky Bloomwood is now Becky Brandon, married to heart-throb Luke. Long-suffering Luke! I couldn't help wondering how he could be quite so patient with her mindless spending. Still, he's well on his way to making 'squillions', so it's not too much of a problem...until everything goes pear-shaped.Becky has to have the top Hollywood gynaecologist, along with her designer boots and specialist prams, and this gynaecologist turns out to be an ex of Luke's. Problems are bound to ensue.Sophie Kinsella is an entertaining writer, one of the better chick-lit authors. And although this is not a genre I tend to favour, it passes mindless hours on the roads quite effectively.Previously read as abridged audio-books:Shopaholic Ties the Knot (3.5 stars)Remember Me (4 stars)

Exactly what I expected from a pregnant Becky Bloomwood book. Lots of fun to read and good for more than a few chuckles.

I actually struggled to complete this book. It was just the same old Becky getting into the same old troubles and honestly I found it boring and too predictable.

I was able to read the Confessions of a Shopaholic years ago and I wasn’t able to finish the other parts after. I’ve always liked the fun, light readings of Sophie Kinsella so I decided to finish her Shopaholic series to give me a positive boost on my “freakish” month. :D It’s nice to delve into feel-good-funny novels once in a while. :D

This just might be my favorite Shopaholic book. Becky's still crazy, but at least being pregnant gives her a little more reason to be crazy. However, I hate the name for baby at the end!

I really like these books. They're such light, fun, quick reads. As the title suggests, Becky is pregnant in this book and gets herself into all sorts of situations at usual. Some parts really made me laugh out loud but there was also a serious tone to a lot of it. I enjoyed this one a lot and couldn't put it down until I was finished.

Probably my fave SHOP book so far! Becky is on board, with a baby! Shopping for two is harder than just for one! That's not the only news, this book is full of dramatic Becky where her OB is her husband's ex. Definitely a must read for all shopaholic lovers out there!

Fun and frothy - but I don't recommend reading all the books one after each other - she tends to become annoying rather than simply flaky

Synopsis: Rebecca “Becky” Brandon (nee Bloomwood) is back in the fifth installment on Kinsella’s Shopaholic series. Becky has had some crazy adventures. From being so far in debt she couldn’t see straight, to meeting the man of her dreams and getting married, to discovering a long lost sister, Becky has done it all, and now, she’s having a baby.Becky and her husband Luke have sold their swanky London flat and found their dream home, one that includes a shoe room for Becky. In true Shopaholic fashion, Becky is buying every designer baby item she can get her hands on. She even manages to land an appointment with an OB/GYN to the stars that has just moved to London. Everything is going swimmingly for the Brandons.Just when it seemed that the baby would complete Becky’s perfect world, it begins to fall apart. An old girlfriend of Luke’s resurfaces and Luke begins to spend quite a lot of time with her. Becky brushes it off at first, but she soon discovers that Luke is lying to her about his whereabouts and is receiving text messages written in Latin. Add into the mix Luke’s snooty mother, a job in a store that is the laughingstock of London, and the inability to find the perfect pram, and Becky is at wits end. Can the ever bubbly Becky Bloomwood Brandon turn it all around in time for the birth of her baby?Review: I really liked this book. It had been a very long time since I read a shopaholic book, and I was glad to once again bask in the glow of all things Becky Bloomwood. Kinsella’s books aren’t the most intellectually challenging books. But you know what? They don’t have to be. What her books are are a good time. The characters are endearing. There is no one like Becky Bloomwood and now matter how hair-brained her schemes may be, you can’t help but love her.I recommend this entire series. If you’ve never met Becky Bloomwood, go introduce yourself!

Wow!! This book is actually very good, even better than the last. Becky is pregnant and becomes a patient of a famous celebrity obstatrician, who happens to be Luke's girlfriend from college and is set on stealing Luke from Becky. While Becky trusts Luke, her insecurity gets the best of her. I just love the hospital scene-with the "She's a Red Haired Bitch and I Hate Her" and "She Is A Yummy Mommy and I Love her" T-shirts, Lukes entrnce into Beky's hospital room, Luke's love confession and his attitude towards the Doc's (whose name escapes me at the moment), Luke's tenderness towards Becky and of course, Becky's real labor pains. I just love how the book ended! I love how they chose the name for thier baby!

This is a quick and light hearted read that didn't involve a lot of thinking if you catch my drift. The whole Shopaholic vehicle I think has run past its course. I have read all the others in the series and after two the novelty has worn off. But nevertheless, Bex's antics still make me laugh and I hope that there aren't too many people out there that are truly like her. I have always thought that the series reminds me of an updated I Love Lucy and interestingly enough USA Today on the back of this book says as such. This story obviously revolves around Becky and Luke and the impending birth of her baby. She has not given up her spending ways...they are just now centered around the new baby and less on items for her. She manipulates Luke into agreeing to switch OBs mid stream as she learns about an OB to celebrities that specializes in holistic births including Thai massage. And it comes as no surprise that this OB just so happens to be the single former college girlfriend of her husband. And shenanigans ensue. If you want to escape and have no expectations of reading a Pulitzer prize novel, then this book is for you.

I am so gonna miss Becky. I really am. I would have to say, all throughout the 5 books, the adventures and journey of Becky has been extremely enjoyable and fun, where i can laugh out loud and even giggle alone in the bus and been totally secluded in the world of Becky. It has been an emotional roller coaster experience at times (in the book) where it hit really high up (euphoric status) and really low low, at the point (again, in the book) you think nothing really matters. All the character, has developed, matured, well progressed and well described for each and every book. And i love the part when the series(at any point during the book) would reminisce moments from previous books, and recaps of the plot and storyline. So this 5th installment of the shopaholic books deals about marriage, fidelity, faith, pregnancy and of course, Becky’s unavoidable moments of white lie and accidental accident of white lies and more misunderstanding and miscommunication. Ooh.. not to mention shopping addiction. Hehe.“In the end, you have to choose whether or not to trust someone. And I do choose. I do.”Points: 8.8 out of 10. (because it’s the birth of a new life and the turning point of one’s life) – i know, i always bias towards Kinsella.

I started reading the Shopaholic series in 2004. I loved the first book, Confessions of a Shopaholic and immediately jumped into Shopaholic Takes Manhattan, which is still my favorite of the series. It’s filled with humorous situations, however it takes a real look on the consequences of impulsive shopping. I read books 3 and 4, but when Shopaholic & Baby was released, I started it and then put it down.Fast forward to 2009. It’s two years later and I’ve finally picked this up again to read. I decided to listen to the audio book and the narrator, Rosalyn Landor, did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life. Becky and her husband, Luke, are expecting their first child. Always wanting to have the latest “in” thing, Becky convinces Luke they must have Dr. Venetia Carter as their OB-GYN as she is also the physician to the celebrities. During their initial visit, Becky learns that Dr. Carter and Luke are former school mates and previously dated! Becky is stunned by the news and gradually begins to feel insecure about herself and her marriage.True to the series, Ms. Kinsella fills the pages with humor as we read about the predicaments Becky finds herself in. Having doubts about her marriage, Becky hires a private detective, only what he discovers is not what she asked for. Becky learns that things are not always what they seem.So is it a girl or boy? I guess you’ll have to read Shopaholic & Baby to find out!

Loved it, Loved it, Loved it! Best book I've read in a long time and hopefully that doesn't make me dumb. It was a great, easy read with a twisty, turny plot line. Perfect for a cold winter afternoon's read. I hope there are more in this series!
