About this audiobook
On America's newest combat base, U.S. Air Force aerial warfare expert Major General Patrick McLanahan and his crew of daring engineers are devising the air combat unit of the future. Known as Air Battle Force, it can launch concentrated, stealthy, precision-guided firepower to any spot on the globe within hours. And soon McLanahan and his warriors will have their first target.
Chased out of Afghanistan, Taliban fighters are planning to invade the neighboring oil-rich Republic of Turkmenistan, an isolated and wealthy central Asian state. As alliances form and forces collide, the impending battle for control of the world's largest oil deposits threatens to tear apart the tenuous peace created by America's victories in Afghanistan. It's up to McLanahan and a handful of American commandos half a world away, aided by an untested and unproven force of robotic warplanes, to win a war in which everyone -- even ""friendly"" forces at home -- wants them to fail.
Performed by David McCallum.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I love Dale Brown's books on aircraft and stories about them. Maclanahan series and Dreamland.
however the guy reading the books really needs to work on his Russian characters. they sound like Ukrainian gangsters that have been in New York City to long! - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Ahhh McLanahan...he acts as the author would like. The thought of a General repeatedly carrying out unprovoked attacks on foreign targets and getting away with it again and again is really annoying. I see other characters, who act like real people, and I recognize them! The story/plot is actually intriguing; US intercedes in a Taliban/Russian fracas--though, I the tactics and thoughts of all three antagonists were all American. And, in typical Dale Brown style, we know all of the switches in the cockpit of his unmanned B-1 bomber. Ok. I'll read more Dale Brown.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5#11 in the series with an ending which clearly foretells there will be a #12 following soon with only minimally more subtly than a bolded TO BE CONTINUED...If there's one particular thing I take from this book it's that Patrick McLanahan is a terrible employee always seeming to be at odd with whatever it is his bosses want. No matter how seemingly reasonable or logical the request is, like a boundary testing toddler, McLananhan immediately does the opposite.Passes the time, but there's better books in the series.
