The book is much better than the scholastic video. It has a great rhythm. Trash is a fascinating topic for a toddler.

Mr gilly is a trashman. He puts on his heavy gloves and gets in his trash truck. He goes around the town and picks up all the trash. At the end of the day the whole town is cleaned. This book teaches children about trashman and what the purpose of their job is.

The Weston Woods animated video of this rocks!

A good choice for read-alouds with young readers. The repetition of Mr. Gilly's refrain will allow children to participate and be actively engaged in the story. The illustrations are bold and use bright colors. A good book for any child interested in trucks, or perhaps for a unit on different jobs/careers.
