About this audiobook

The fallout from a horrific Washington explosion has just begun, along with CIA superagent Mitch Rapp’s hunt for a killer with a personal agenda in this “fun, finger-blistering page-turner” (Star Tribune, Minneapolis) in the #1 New York Times bestselling Mitch Rapp series.

In the final weeks of a fierce presidential campaign, a motorcade carrying candidate Josh Alexander is shattered by a car bomb. Soon after the attack, Alexander is carried to victory by a sympathy vote, but his assailants have not been found. When CIA director Irene Kennedy and Special Agent Skip McMahon receive damaging intelligence on Washington’s most powerful players, they call on Mitch Rapp—the one man reckless enough to unravel a global network of contract killers on an explosive mission that leads back to the heart of our nation’s capital…and the inner sanctum of the Oval Office.

“Taut writing and [a] plausible vision of the real work of the intelligence community” (Publishers Weekly) make Act of Treason an unputdownable and heart-pounding thriller.

The Mitch Rapp series is so good! I started from the beginning and am working my way through the entire series. I stopped reading/listening after The Last Man. Hoping the rest of the series by Kyle are as good. Vince Flynn was such a great writer he’s a hard act to follow! Starting The Last Man now.

CIA operative, Mitch Rapp, is at it again. As the presidential election draws near, the second car in the candidate's motorcade is blown to smithereens. The car held the presidential candidate's wife. It looked like terrorism. It really did. But, of course, it wasn't… And Mitch unravels all in his take-no-prisoners way. I love all of Flynn's books and this was no exception.

Second Flynn book in a row. I will wait awhile before I read any more. Although I like his style, I am developing a dislike for his main characters; especially the main character, Mitch Rapp who is a borderline psychotic killer. That's okay as far as psychotic killers go, but this guy is a key figure with the CIA. And now I discover his 'boss', Irene Kennedy is also a killer. All that is a bit preposterous. And yes, the language is bad.

Another decent read in the series..Nothing really changes here too much from the usual. Unlike others, Characters are those we've known for the first six books of the series. Plot, also similar. I especially enjoyed the novice liberal politicos who asked that Mitch's perpetrator be tried in a court of law...only to find out that there's no usable evidence against him. Unlike others, I enjoyed the ending..

Mitch Rapp is involved in locating and eliminating individuals who conspired to blow up the President elect's motorcade. Rather than killing the President or the Vice President elect, the wife of the President elect and a Secret Service agent are killed. It is determined that several of the conspirators are located within the transition government. The book is entertaining and is typical of other series type works.

This was a good Flynn book, but not a great one. At this point, even a good Flynn book to me is light years above other authors. This one seemed to focus a little less on Mitch Rapp and a little more on general political intrigue occurring in and around D.C. I still found it enjoyable to read, but not quite the page turner that past Flynn entries have been.

Irene Kennedy gets her hands dirty in this book when she discovers with mitch's help that the new vice president elect Mark Ross had set up the motorcade bombing / murder of the president Elect Alexanders Wife which killed 18 others. Irene in the end of the book the day before inaugeration of Ross poisons him in the Oval office causing a heart attack. Instead of prosecuting him and Stu Garrett his campain manager for Treason, murder and such Irene took out Ross. And Mitch has to wait to take out Garrett out when Irene says its ok!

A nice break from Flynn's terrorist-chasing routine. This time it's more about domestic intrigue, but still enough exotic locales to keep Flynn's fan's interested. Also (almost) no torture scenes and more character development than usual. My one minor problem is that Mr. Flynn creates Democrat presidents who are WAY too supportive of the CIA and the work they do. It's probably his way of appearing unbiased, considering his clearly right wing inclinations. Not a deal-breaker, but takes away from the realism of his stories just a bit.

The book equivalent of a Hollywood conspiracy/action movie - you can see Steven Seagal in the Mitch Rapp role. To say this book runs to c 400 pages there is little in the way of plot that needed to extend beyond half that length. The author fills the book with too much detailed exposition, which sucks all the tension away. It picks up in the final pages but the ending becomes rushed and unsatisfying. Additionally a number of interesting characters are introduced and disappear - notably FBI agent Skip McMahon. Whilst I found the premise of the plot interesting the characters were often two-dimensional - despite Flynn's attempts to add back story - and the dialogue and situations risible. There were the occasional flashes of inspiration and wit, but these were undone by the overly familiar approach to the subject matter.

Finally, a top notch story from Vince Flynn. I had been disappointed by a few recent ones and was pleased that this one lived up to my expectations. A thrilling read that kept moving with only minimal areas of slowness (these tended to happen in the beginning of chapters when unnecessary detail was given).

CIA operative Mitch Rapp follows a trail of contract killers leading directly to the heart of our nation's capital in New York Times bestselling author Vince Flynn's eighth explosive thriller. It's a gorgeous autumn day in Georgetown. The Democratic candidates for president and vice president of the United States are dutifully glad-handing voters and the media outside a grand estate where a national security conference has just been held, bringing together the world's greatest minds to discuss the issues that are threatening the country. It's American politicking at its best. That's when all hell breaks loose. When presidential candidate Josh Alexander's motorcade is ambushed by a group of terrorists, the nation is thrown into turmoil. Two weeks following the attack, Alexander is carried to victory by a sympathy vote, but his assailants have not been found. On the surface it appears to be the work of al-Qaeda, despite the tremendous job that the U.S. and her allies have done eliminating terrorist cells within the heart of America. While the FBI and the rest of the government begin scouring the world for jihadists, CIA director Irene Kennedy and Special Agent Skip McMahon are presented with classified information so toxic that they consider destroying it altogether, as it contains intelligence pointing to some of the most powerful players in Washington. Enter Mitch Rapp, the one man reckless enough to follow the evidence to its explosive conclusion. His journey takes him through the shadowy world of contract killers, into the darkest corners of the globe, and eventually back to Washington, where the fragile pillars of power are shaken to their core.

Another round of action from Mitch Rapp. This book is much shorter than some of the others in this series, but still enjoyable...especially because we get to see Kennedy get her hands a little dirty. Also, the ending lets you know Rapp will be back to handle some unfinished business.

Part of the enjoyment for me in reading a Vince Flynn tale is its closeness to current events. This is missing in Acts of Treason (at least to date). Despite this lack of connection to reality, I enjoyed Acts of Treason and while not the best Mitch Rapp thriller, it was a fun read.

Act of Treason, by Vince Flynn, is a continuation of the author's series featuring Mitch Rapp, a CIA undercover agent. In this book, Rapp investigates an explosion that kills the President Elect's wife, and discovers that people from within the US government itself are involved in the bombing.Unlike other LT reviewers, I found Act of Treason to be - by far - the weakest of Flynn's books that I have read. The action was slow, the characters weakly drawn, and the writing poorer than usual. This book felt like it was written to meet a deadline. I don't expect books in the political thriller genre to be particularly well-written or to have finely drawn characters. However, I do expect an intriguing mystery and lots of action - that's why I read them. However, Act of Treason contains neither. The mystery is easily solved by the reader well before the book's half-way mark, and as for action - after the opening scene, there is none. This was the first book in a long time that I almost didn't finish.

In classic Flynn fashion, this one features terrorism, political corruption, and justice. Not his best, but entertaining, nonetheless.
