About this audiobook

"In previous books in this popular series, Amber has seen her parents divorce and her father and best friend, Justin Daniels, move far away. Now she is firmly established in the fourth grade with a new best friend and a growing fondness for her mom's boyfriend, Max. Just for a while, Amber would like nothing more to change so that she can concentrate on the business of growing up. Then Max throws them all into a tizzy by asking her mother to marry him. Suddenly, they make an unplanned trip to Alabama to see the Daniels family so that Amber's mom can think things through. There, Justin helps Amber realize that change is a part of living. Through all the chaos, irrepressible Amber, buoyed by her loving relationship with her mother as well as her lively imagination and wonderful sense of humor, develops a growing understanding of herself and the people around her. Danziger's characterizations ring true. Her light handling of a difficult subject faced by so many youngsters will once again find a ready audience."---School and Library Journal

Paula Danziger

Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in New York, Paula Danziger knew since second grade that she wanted to be a writer. Beginning her career as a teacher, Danziger taught at the junior high, high school, college levels. She received her Masters Degree in reading and during that time she wrote her first bestselling novel, The Cat Ate My Gymsuit. She returned to teaching, but the success of her book encouraged her to become a full-time writer. It was non-stop for Danziger since then. Among her titles are: the enormously popular Amber Brown books as well as Remember Me To Harold Square, The Divorce Express, and Can You Sue Your Parents For Malpractice? Danziger received numerous honors, including: Parent's Choice Awards, International Reading Association - Children's Book Council Awards, a IRA-CBC Children's Choice Award and many nominations for state reading and library association awards. Known as a flamboyantly funny and deeply honest writer and speaker, Paula Danziger knew how to relate to young readers at their level. She was vital, funny, and compassionate. She knew how kids felt, what made them laugh, what they wore, collected, read, and played with. From collecting novelty toys that would make any teacher cringe, to wearing jangly earrings, funky glasses and shoes covered with beads and sequins, Paula Danziger had a direct line into kids' hearts and funnybones. She will be missed always. In Paula's memory, The Amber Brown Fund has been established to bring authors and illustrators to schools and libraries which otherwise could not afford them. Donations may be sent to The Amber Brown Fund/ SCBWI Museum of Children’s Books, 8271 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90048.

This book is perfect for a second grade thru fifth grade class. This book discusses the subject of divorce in a great way for kids. I really enjoyed reading this book where Amber Brown was dealing with change in her life when her mother's boyfriend asks her to marry him. The decision affects both her and her mom tremendously, and in the end they decide that they will have a new different type of family and it was a good idea that would make everyone happy.

This is a very cute story. Amber Brown is a girl who is 9 years old and talks her life. Her parents are divorced and mom is thinking of getting engaged to Max. She doesn't want things to change or does she.I found it interesting because it deals with an interesting situation that many children have to deal with. Some not always at a young age.

Amber's mom's boyfriend, Max, asks Amber's mom to marry him. Both Amber and her mother have to decide how to feel about that. A trip to visit Justin's family in Alabama helps them decide.Again, Danziger portrays a young girl's challenges in a very realistic manner. Amber is entertaining and real.
