[A Woman Betrayed] by [[Barbara Delinsky]]; (2 1/2*)Though this book held my interest I didn't find it nearly as good as other [[Delinsky]] books that I have read. The protagonist is Laura, a woman with a catering business married to a CPA and the mother of a teenage son and daughter. As the story begins she is waiting up for her husband who at this point is twelve hours late getting home from work. This is unlike him.The book tells the story of her, her husband, his brother, her children, her friend, her mother & her mother-in-law. Laura thought she had the perfect life. (little did she know....) My favorite character in this book was that of the mother-in-law.As the story moves along we find out, along with the wife, that all is not nor ever has been as it has appeared in their marriage. She runs the gamut of emotions as the story threads its way through the missing person's report, the questioning by the police, the discovery of deceptions by her husband, etc.Laura seems to invite becoming a victim. It's no wonder I was able to read this 500 page book in one 3 hour sitting. The writing was fine, the story a bit of a muddle.

Ugh, lackluster and boring. Never really felt like the story got going at all. ??

I really wanted to like this book. It starts off great- a woman is left confused and overwhelmed when her stable life is upturned after the disappearance of her husband. But as the book went on, much of the book seemed like filler to me. I was interested enough in the plot to want to know the outcome, but started skimming to get to the end. Much of the book seemed contrived.

Story about how quickly someone's life can spiral out of control. A good reminder to women to pay attention to the lives of others around them, be attentive to their husband and have an awareness of their financial situation.

a Woman Betrayed by Barbara DelinskyShe has a family: husband and 2 kids. She caters food for parties. He's late and he's not called.Laura had others do the actual catering as she was attending the museum show. This was so unlike Jeff. Deborah, the teen is also upset he's not showed up. Lyida, the mother in law who Lauratakes care of, takes to doctor appts, grocery shops, etc has not seen him.Daphne is her best friend over the years and she has no idea where he is.The story also follows Jeff, he's run away from his job of a CPA with his Porsche and 50k and is in a cabin with the bare essentials. The book also follows Christian and his friend who they've been with 16 years when she dies from a disease. It's been 3 years now and he was building in VT at one time, now in Australia.Scott is in college but he'll be home Friday as Laura Fry and Daphne fill out the missing person report.Together they think of all the possible scenarios as to what could've happened til the investigator Taylor Jones from the IRS contacts them and tells him he's wanted for money fraud. They freeze the bank accounts and she has no money of her own, she can't pay bills nor pay her employees.Things just get worse with rape charges and Christian returns to the US and a mistress.I can't even fathom going through all this...
