To me one of the things that makes a great author is one who is not afraid to do the unexpected. In this book we get that unexpected moment. We get caught off guard and drawn into a story we may not have expected.

Hunted by magic, beset by evil, the Nightwalkers face their darkest hour yet. And when the unthinkable happens, only one legendary male has the power, the will, to save them: Adam. . .

For 400 Years He Was Lost To Her, But He Is Hers Tonight. . .

This was an interesting book, in that I really liked the story, but was sooooo turned off by most of the characters. Here you have such powerful beings, but they all seemed so completely helpless.

The book is action-packed from beginning to end. That prologue?! What a FANTASTIC way to begin this book... I was taken in immediately. I sort of knew it couldn't stay that way, but this was just one of the most intriguing beginnings ever.

Leah is KICK ASS... really loved this character and would love to read her story. Jasmine is also pretty damn cool and I really liked her a lot. Adam seemed cool, but didn't make a lasting impression, although he rated much higher than the other males in this series.

The others.... I mean, what a bunch of wusses. So much hand-wringing and so little action.

Ruth was a CRAZY ass biatch, but very well done. Her character was so over-the-top fantastic, that I loved her. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to see her destroyed, but she was a great character. I was pretty damn happy with how Nico died... that was satisfying. I'm glad these two were FINALLY dealt with, it just dragged on too freaking long.

I have to say I was completely disappointed with Noah and Damien's books and am pretty disgusted with how these characters were made to be so milquetoast in those books. Adam was a rush of adrenaline that was really needed to get me back on-board.

This review can also be found on my blog.

A shocking start to the last book in this series. I was this close .... to tossing the book. So NOT what I was expecting by any means. Never before have I been so overcome with hatred for a villain. The far-reaching ramifications of Ruth's madness and revenge is beyond words. But stick with it if you can make it through the beginning. Trust the author.

Understandably, Leah's thoughts about using her powers for selfish reasons prove to be very tempting. I have to admire the little girl's sense of responsibility to wield such a great power and to think through the potentially dangerous consequences of it all, and let's not forget Destiny, who might have something to say about it. Just as she's thinking through all the variables, the pros and cons, Ruth and Nicodemus sneak up on her and force her hand, whether it's the right thing to do or not.

Four hundred years in the past.

We get a very interesting insight into our favorite heroes. The gang is all there, including Adam when he had served as an Enforcer. It was funny to listen to all our heroes talk about never getting tied down by a woman, or not seeking mates outside of their race. If only they knew. We learned that Adam had just disappeared one day, and everyone thought he was Summoned and long dead. Now we know that he disappeared because Leah brought him back to 2008 to prevent the deaths of Jacob and Bella.

I thought that by now I would have warmed up to Jasmine, since she's been around a lot since Damien. Nope, I still can't say that I like her. I like who she allowed herself to become around Adam, but I didn't really feel that transition. I know she kind of liked him 400 years ago, until he disappeared and with him went her only source of mischief and interest. Now that he's back, she picks up easily where they left off. During the meeting with Noah and the gang, she doesn't even seem surprised to learn that he was brought back through time and that he didn't just run off somewhere and hide like she first assumed. It also didn't make much sense to me that she seemed to easily accept that they had imprinted. I was expecting her to put up more of a fight, like Kestra did in the last book.

I am also left to wonder about that mysterious girl, the "double agent", who helped the Nightwalkers. Was it Leah from the future? No one seemed to recognize her as Leah, though they should have since everyone has always remarked how she looks exactly like Jacob and Bella. And, how did she appear to work alongside the corrupted Nightwalkers when she disappeared right after Adam saved Jacob? And what of Seth and his powers? Will he eventually come into them? I hope there will be some answers to be found in one of the other series.

Some reviewers have touched on the POVs of Ruth and the Mistrals in this story. While it is true that we hear a lot more from them than we are used to, I believe in Windsong's case, it set the stage for the other series the Shadowdwellers and the Gatherers. Having Ruth spew her plans more freely served to heighten the tension I felt while reading. In all the previous books, I was sure the Nightwalkers would catch up to her long enough to either destroy her, or at least take her down a few notches. Instead she managed to cause more pain and suffering for our heroes. That is my perspective on the POVs issue.

All that aside, I really enjoyed this book (despite the heartbreaking start). Adam was so hot in his water form! Now that was an interesting way to make love. And I didn't think Ms Frank would get so kinky!

    She bit down hard.

Under any other circumstances, Adam imagined his first instinct would have been to backhand her across the room and then curl up into a wounded little ball of damaged manhood.

But this was not other circumstances.

I choked on my coffee at what followed next *giggles*

Fantastic ending to a wonderful series that I will enjoy re-reading over and over. Thank you, Ms Frank.

Reviewed by JenReview copy provided by ZebraI've been a fan of this series since book 1. And when it supposedly ended after book 5, Noah, I wasn't ready to let it go. But when I heard that Ms Frank wasn't done with the Nightwalkers and there was another a new book in the works... well, I was excited. And then to be given a copy for review... well, be still my heart. So this books starts out with a bang. We've thrown smack dab in the middle of the demon's war and Ms Frank had me in tears in the first 20 pages and something unthinkable happens to set events in motion. And the roller coaster ride didn't end until the last page. I laughed, I cried, I found myself biting my nails and sitting on the edge of my seat as the the book climaxed with a battle scene. I enjoyed revisiting old friends as the demon's battle with Ruth comes to a head. It was fun watching Adam and Jasmine, mortal enemies, circle each other and fighting their attraction, but also banding together against the greater evil. But in reality, the romance in this book was secondary to me as I was totally enthralled with finding out how the arcing story of the rogue demon who was terrorizing her fellow Nightwalkers was going to play out. My only complaint was that I felt the final battle scene was shorter than I expected. I sincerely hope that this isn't the last book in the series. I've enjoyed this world that Ms Frank has created and always enjoy a return trip to visit the Nightwalkers.

Review Courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: Thrilling, mysterious and sexy paranormal romance with some time travel and a whole lotta arse kickin.Opening Sentence: “There’s too many of them!”The Review:Okay, so apparently this reviewer is even more out of certain loops than was previously expected. Looking through Goodreads, I just found out that Noah, the book before Adam, was supposed to have been the last of this series. *GASP* Well, I for one am glad that Ms. Frank decided to dust off her Nightwalker cap and bring us another story. Seriously, how silly to think we would be satisfied with the villains in this series left to walk free among the masses. Also some readers, myself included, would be quite happy if she would hang around and finish off some of the other characters’ storylines, especially now that we have met a few of them at an older age.I found the character of Adam an interesting choice for the hero of what again appears to be the last of the series. I admit I had a bit of an issue remembering any of his previous storyline. Actually, other than knowing I had read the books starring his brothers, I had absolutely no recollection of him whatsoever. Which makes me wonder why choose him. It also makes me want to ask, if this is definitely the last of this series, why not have Seth and/or Leah as its main characters? Thinking back to all the revelations from the past books, these two would seem the more logical and perhaps the more popular choice. And here is where I lodge my biggest complaint. This book concludes the series in true “popular” horror movie fashion. It solves just enough of the crises to be a plausible ending, but leaves plenty of loose ends for a series of sequels. This drives me crazy, in movies and in books. I do not enjoy the endless cliffhanger, the constant “I wonder if we will finally find out what happens in the end.” But that is very likely just me.Otherwise, I am very glad that the main storyline of this book was the end of some very bad dudes. These people have been asking for it for a very long time, and it made me want to get up and dance when they got their just desserts. Now a bit on the characters, etc. This series is based in the present in a Hungarian forest which borders the vampire lands in Romania. Jacquelyn Frank has built her characters their own little world hidden within these woods, surrounded by peaceful villages. You would expect a level of serenity, and you do get some of that, but demons, as with any other paranormal culture, do have their good times.Ms. Frank does a marvelous job bringing her characters to life in this and all her associated series’. Adam is the requisite supernatural hottie, gifted with the power of water, controlling it and becoming it. And ladies, who wouldn’t want a man who can literally caress every single part of your body, all at the same time. *swoon* I get chills just contemplating it. Adam is also mostly everything you could ask for in a hero, loyal, smart, good with his hands, and willing to sacrifice everything for the ones he loves. Everything including life as he knows it, given up to save his brother 400 years in the future.Meanwhile, the vampire Jasmine… wait! A vampire and a demon… in love?? *gasp* I actually love this part of her writing. It’s always interesting to see what comes when paranormal creatures date outside of their group species, and not just your average paranormal-human matchups. Ms. Frank matches demons with vamps and druids, vamps with lycans, etc. Sounds like an all around good time to me.Anyway, Jasmine is sure one tough cookie. Well, on the outside anyway. Anyone who can hold onto a love for four centuries has to have a bit of soft on the inside. Jasmine is also fiercely loyal to those she calls family and there are no ends she will not go for them, even if those ends are personally hurtful. When a chance at revenge against those who have harmed them and their loved ones arises, both Adam and Jasmine are prepared to lay it all on the line. Heroes in my mind.Overall, I liked Adam and Jasmine’s story quite a bit. Ignoring the whole “end of the series” issues, I would recommend it to my friends, if paranormals were their thing. Ms. Frank’s books are always a pleasure and I am hoping for a continuation of the series. Think it will help if I ask really nice? Pretty please, with a cherry on top??Notable Scene:“Who are you?” Adam demanded, moving forward to get in her face. “Why should we trust anything about you when you stink of magic? You even helped Ruth cast that thing she was going to use to capture me and Damien!”“But she did not capture you, did she? All I have done is help cast the trap that finally caught the Demon traitor Ruth. Thin on that a moment.”She moved slightly, tipping her head back and taking a deep breath. I was as if she were breathing in freedom.“Ah…here it comes,” she breathed. She held out her hands and Jasmine could see the tips of her fingers fading away. For the first time, emotion broke through the girl’s features. Tears filled her kaleidoscoping eyes.“It means it’s all changed,” she breathed to Jasmine. “It means I did what I was supposed to do. I only pray this time things turn out for the better.” She looked at Jasmine with a momentary flash of worry. “It will be better now, won’t it?”The girl was fading quickly, but Jasmine felt her pain and thought she understood, at least in a small sense, what was happening.“Yes,” she assured her softly. “Trust us. We’ll make it better for you.”The girl let out a stark sob of relief. And then she was gone.Nightwalkers Series:1. Jacob2. Gideon3. Elijah4. Damien5. Noah6. Adam is the sixth book in the Jacquelyn Frank Nightwalker series and I have to say after reading this I was surprised. I read the first five books a couple of series ago and I wasn't really into them I found them boring, a romance novel cliche actually. I didn't jump on reading this book for that reason, stupid me. This book was surprisingly very good. You can read this book as a stand alone but it makes a lot more sense if you've read the previous books in the series. That being said a lot of the characters, ok all the characters were brought back from the previous books. This book was very different from the others in the series, a lot more surprises and twists and turns. It had my attention from the first few pages and kept it throughout the whole book. Adam is thrown 400 years into the future by his niece, so she can save the lives of her parents, needless to say there is some adjusting to do and Jasmine is there to help. The whole time travel thing could have been a disaster, but was actually very well written. The only thing I really disliked about the book is the "imprinting" part, that's a little too much like the Christine Feehan Carpathian series to seem original to me, but aside from that I was really surprised just how good the book turned to be...kudos to Jacquelyn Frank. I hope this is not the end of the series.♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ 4/5 I really enjoyed it.

This is a poor showing from Frank. Things come together towards the end, but this really looks like something she threw together because her fans wanted her to write the story. It was frustrating. We deserved a better story.

I had forgotten all about Jacob & Kane's long lost brother Adam, so going into this story I didn't know what to expect. To say I was wowed by this story is an understatement. The prologue is one of the most shocking prologues I've ever read. It was of the "OMG, I can't believe the author did this" variety. I wanted to rant and stop reading there. But I kept reading and was totally captivated. The creativity Ms. Frank brings it this story and the whole world of The Nightwalkers is amazing. Adam made me remember how much I love this series. It is filled with time travel, powerful love and perilous danger. I think fans will be shocked as I was, but love it just the same.

Review courtesy of All Things Urban FantasyI was so excited to read ADAM after loving the Nightwalkers novella, Kane, from the SUPERNATURAL anthology earlier this year. I wanted more of this demon, druid, and vampire populated world, and more of the steamy romance built on compelling and committed love stories. The first fifty pages or so of ADAM deal heavily with the characters introduced in previous novels and mainly serves to reacquaint and remind readers of who is who and where the numerous relationships are. As a newbie to this series, it was very tedious and a bit overwhelming, especially since all the info relayed ended up having very little impact on the story overall. But after all the backstory, the real plot of ADAM took off in a much more interesting direction. The demon mythology in this series is rich and complex, but not in any way religious. Demons have various abilities like manipulating elements. In ADAM, a new ability is revealed: time manipulation. After a series of tragic events, Adam, a water demon, is snatched from his own time and brought to ours in order to prevent the tragedy. Initially bitter and deeply suspicious of the new world and rules around him, that all changes when he encounters the beautiful but detached vampire Jasmine with whom he shared a forbidden day with centuries ago. I loved the internal struggles both Jasmine and Adam wrestled with in regards to the other. Everything from shame and self hatred to hope and wonder at the growing realization that there might be more than just attraction between these once mortal enemies. And they weren’t just fighting their emotions either. When Adam jumped to our time, he thwarted the plans of a very dangerous enemy, one who quickly struck back and Jasmine and Adam ended up tasked with facing a foe that could destroy them both. Like the other stories in this series, ADAM is deeply sensual, but not at the expense of real emotional connection. The beginning may have dragged, but once the main plot started, it was anything but slow. I didn’t feel the same desire to read about the supporting cast that I did while reading Kane’s story, but I completely fell for Adam and Jasmine and will look forward to their cameos in future Nightwalker books. Sexual Content: Several scenes of sensuality. A graphic sex scene
