About this audiobook
A psychic man has the power to change a post-apocalyptic world in this science fiction novel from the author ofSolar Lottery.
Precognition; a world ruled by Relativism; giant alien jellyfish. The World Jones Madeis a classic Philip K. Dick mash-up, taking deep philosophical musings and infusing them with wild action
Floyd Jones has always been able to see exactly one year into his future, a gift and curse that began one year before he was even born. As a fortune-teller at a post-apocalyptic carnival, Jones is a powerful force, and may just be able to force society away from its paralyzing Relativism. If, that is, he can avoid the radioactively unstable government hitman on his tail.
Philip K. Dick
Over a writing career that spanned three decades, PHILIP K. DICK (1928–1982) published 36 science fiction novels and 121 short stories in which he explored the essence of what makes man human and the dangers of centralized power. Toward the end of his life, his work turned to deeply personal, metaphysical questions concerning the nature of God. Eleven novels and short stories have been adapted to film, notably Blade Runner (based on Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?), Total Recall, Minority Report, and A Scanner Darkly, as well as television's The Man in the High Castle. The recipient of critical acclaim and numerous awards throughout his career, including the Hugo and John W. Campbell awards, Dick was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2005, and between 2007 and 2009, the Library of America published a selection of his novels in three volumes. His work has been translated into more than twenty-five languages.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The themes that PK liked to explore were in this novel but the strongest impression I took from it was the idea that the earth is a living cell living inside a great being. I used to think Philip was a Gnostic he was certainly influenced by them. Looks to me like he was also influenced by panpsychism.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A likeable effort by an old favorite.Jones is a freak, gifted with precognition. Despite the efforts of determined bureaucrats within the repressive regime that controls post World War III society, Jones' power and influence grows. Eventually his followers seize control and Jones is elevated to almost God-like status. He can see the future, dodge assassins' bullets before they're fired, anticipate his opponents' every move...how can he possibly be stopped?A quick read and, admittedly, not nearly as mind-boggling as some of PKD's later works. A tall tale of a future that never was, well-told and smart enough not to waste readers' time.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5A long, convoluted, and disjointed story, no twists, everything leading to the inevitable end
