About this audiobook
Vince Flynn’s intensely suspenseful #1 New York Times bestseller puts the young, hungry, and lethal superagent of American Assassin in the crosshairs even as he kills with impunity.
In the year since the CIA trained and then unleashed him, Mitch Rapp has dismantled, kill by untraceable kill, the network of monsters behind the Pan Am Lockerbie terrorist attack. The hunt leads to Paris, where a deadly trap is sprung as the bullet leaves Rapp’s silenced pistol—followed by the discovery of nine bodies, including Libya’s oil minister, in one of the city’s finest hotels. Washington wants no part of the international crisis, and Rapp is deemed a liability by Stan Hurley, one of his handlers. But as he slips outside their control to operate on his own, it will soon become clear that nothing is more dangerous than a wounded and cornered Mitch Rapp.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Book Title: "Kill Shot”Author: Vince FlynnPublished By: Atria BooksAge Recommended: 18+Reviewed By: Kitty BullardRaven Rating: 3.5Review: I’m not sure if it’s the fact that I’m not into this genre or if the book just lacked the ‘umph’ I was looking for, but I was unable to really get into it. However, if you are into espionage and CIA hijinks then you’ll very likely enjoy this one. If this is a genre of choice for you I’d say give a try anyway.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5i love the mitch rapp series and couldn't put the book down. it's kindof the second book (or prequel) of the rapp character. it was interesting to see where the characters started. now the one right before this is all about the training and this one takes place right after that and establishing rapp as an assassin. can't wait for another.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Easy to read, I enjoyed the premise of the story.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was my first audio book so I wasn't sure what expect. I'm not a big reader so probably not qualified to review books, but quite enjoyed the experience, I found the story entertaining and the audio quite absorbing.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Some entertaining no brain required listening. Quite enjoyable for simple time passing at an airport.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Enjoyed the story very much. The audiobook is well read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A decent spy thriller, but I did not enjoy as much as the first one, American Assassin. This story is set in Paris, though it felt as if it could have been almost anywhere. A CIA hit goes bad, and the French police, French spies, and American spies are all in the mix trying to determine what exactly happened. Decent storytelling, but a little too vanilla for my tastes.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Me thought nothing about Mitch. This book was not foul at all.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Loved this second book as much as the first.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I entered this book after I read it. It started with a prologue, and I skipped it. Last time I read a prologue from this series, it was a spoiler! Hate that. This book reminded me of the bad Tom Clancy Jack Ryan Jr books. Jack Ryan Jr has magic where every decision he makes works out. I don't like it in those books. I am impressed with Vince Flynn because he pulls it off. Good stuff.1,268 members; 3.91 average rating; 1/24/2020
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It would be really hard to not like Mitch Rapp. In this one, his sanctioned mission of retribution gets sidetracked when he's set up, but he's just too darn competent to die when he's supposed to. His new self-assigned mission? Find out who sold him out and...yeah, more retribution. This one's a lot of fun for fans of this sort of thing, and I enjoyed every minute of it. There's nothing new in it in terms of its plot, but it covers familiar ground in solid fashion and establishes some backstory for Rapp himself, given that it's a prequel type of thing. The ending was a bit abrupt, but my only real complaint here is that most of the bad guys are one-dimensional and stereotypical, but that just makes it easier to root against the slimy bastages, I guess.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was not his best book but still intriguing and well written. Fast pace, never a dull moment and well developed characters. Rapp’s got a hit list and in this book, he’s to take out the Libyan oil minister. He does this, but rather rudely finds out there are others there too. The French get involved and it's off to the races. Rapp falls for a girl, who happens to be related to the CIA, violating one of the rules. Good book not excellent.

This is the second book in the series, and tells us part of the early story of Mitch Rapp which was started in American Assasin.Whilst it is the second book in the series it was one of the last ones Vince Flynn wrote before his untimely death from Prostate Cancer - such a big loss! I think I enjoyed this one more than the other two in the series, and am most definitely hooked on the series. If you enjoy espionage books, or action based books - this is the series for you, I can thoroughly recommend it. In this one Mitch has been sabotaged by someone and has to try to get himself out off a tough situation before he is taken out! He is not sure who he can trust, but I'd still back Mitch Rapp any day, not someone to underestimate!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5great assassin political thriller
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was not expecting that ending, but Kill Shot was still an entertaining read. I'm now looking forward to picking up book three.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A much better effort than the previous American Assassin novel in the Mitch Rapp series. Flynn has spent the last year battling prostate cancer, so any effort from him was a welcome sight. Overcoming a somewhat plodding middle after a quick start, this plot came together nicely at the end and really showcased what Flynn was trying to do with the first AA novel, show the beginnings of Mitch Rapp and what shaped him into the assassin he became. Flynn really pulls that off here.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Overall very solid, good read.
My only issue is, as many people have said, that the end send to be wrapped up to quick. There were a lot of questions in my mind. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is the first book from this series I've read and was surprised to find out that it's number 12. This was good thriller with a bit of mystery thrown in. Rapp is the guy you root for and the one making a difference. In this one he is betrayed and he is almost killed. Lots of trust is needed in this game, and now he doesn't know who put his trust in. This makes everyone a little nervous. The trap was sprung, and a terrible mess was left in Paris where a foreign oil minister was shot, his prostitute, 4 apparent guards 2 hotel guests and a bell boy. A very big mess and it was all laid at Rapp's feet. Rapp needs to clear his name and find who set him up and take care of business.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Sitting here writing this review is bittersweet. Yes, this was another good Mitch Rapp book. No, it wasn't the best, but unfortunately for me it will be the last. Due to the untimely death of Vince Flynn I will not get to enjoy anymore banter between Mitch and Irene or Hurley, and of course the late great Stansfield. But I digress; this book takes off after the events in American Assassin. Rapp is set out on his own to take down (ok, Kill, assassinated, eliminate, or whatever you want to call it) a list of known terrorist or associates/helpers of terrorist groups. Everything has been going just fine for Rapp, even his love life is looking up, until Paris and now his not sure who to trust or if he should trust anyone. During a routine even easy assassination Rapp is ambushed and starts to think that he is set up. In fact, he was set up just not by who he thought. Using the skills Hurley has taught him Rapp turns the tables and tries to find out if he was set up. Unfortunately, one of Hurley's own men goes above and beyond and tries to take out Rapp. After several tense days, Mitch reaches out to Irene and with Stansfield in tow the whole story comes out and true to Rapp, Hurley, and Flynn standards justice is swift and permanent. If you enjoy spy thrillers then you will like Vince Flynn and take it from some one who listened to all the books and you haven't read or listened to any start with "prequels" and start the originally published series I think you'll enjoy it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I'm really enjoying these Mitch Rapp prequels. Aside from giving up a backstory on how Rapp became who he is, they are also more unpredictable because young Rapp is obviously more prone to mistakes and doubts than the perfect CIA assassin we know and love. As a bonus you get the backstories of other characters from the series- Stansfield, Kennedy, Riley, and Hurley, seeing them younger and more involved in the nitty gritty of the operations. A few gruesome scenes, but it would not be a Vince Flynn story otherwise.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another awesome Mitch Rapp novel.
Whilst compared to the genre of thrillers/spy thrillers this book is excellent, however compared to the likes of The Third Option & Transfer of Power the book is a little lacking. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Just when I thought all Vince Flynn books were great, I read Kill Shot. This book was OK, nowhere near as great as the other two books I'd read. A sluggish plot that didn't pull me in.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was an okay book. The action scenes are fantastic. Didn't get much into the Rapp psychology which is too bad. The back story on Victor was kind of cool. All that said, I think an editor could have challenged some of the story lines a bit more.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5After being excited about “American Assassin,” (I gave it four stars), I was looking forward to reading the next story in the prequel series of Mitch Rapp’s career. Unfortunately, “Kill Shot” wasn’t as good as its predecessor—nor as good as the originals.“Kill Shot” didn’t have a lot of action, wasn’t very suspenseful, and contained few surprises. Yes, Vince Flynn still impresses with his knowledge of spycraft, but at this point we’re pretty used to that. And of course this one suffers from the same thing “American Assassin”—and any prequel—does. That is, a knowledge that the recurring character is in no danger of death. What can make a prequel work, however, is character development. Here, we get little of it. It’s just a story of a job Rapp was to take care of that goes wrong. Sure, there' s a beautiful girl involved. But all guys like beautiful women, so really, is that character development?Rapp’s got a hit list and in this book, he’s to take out the Libyan oil minister. He does this, but rather rudely finds out there are others there too—and they’re there to take Rapp out. So Rapp’s not sure how he got sold out and suspects anyone and everyone from Kennedy, to Stansfield, to Hurley, to Hurley’s bulldog of an agent Victor. The bulk of the book is Rapp trying to figure out who’s after him. Meanwhile, we find out others at Langley are trying to work their way up the ladder in a rather treasonous way. There is obviously at least one more book in the prequel series but I’m not holding out much hope it’ll be good. At this point, it’s basically going to be a revenge-type sequel. Been there, done that. I think Flynn needs to take a break from Rapp and find another character to create. Don’t misunderstand; Flynn’s great at what he does. But the Rapp character has played out—actually quite some time ago. I think Flynn was hoping to discover more about Rapp by going back in time, but it’s not worked out very well here.I also feel I need to comment on the fact that we’re not really told when the events of the book are occurring. While I understand this book takes place not long after the events of “American Assassin,” I also know I can’t remember specifics a year after reading a book. It’s obviously pre-9/11, but new readers might not know this—especially if they’ve not read “American Assassin.” Giving the reader some clues on the year would have been helpful not only from a geopolitical perspective but from a technological one as well.
