Descrição

Just breathe, Kacey. Ten tiny breaths. Seize them. Feel them. Love them.

Four years ago, Kacey Cleary's life imploded when her car was hit by a drunk driver, killing her parents, boyfriend, and best friend. Still haunted by memories of being trapped inside, listening to her mother take her last breath, Kacey wants to leave her past behind. Armed with two bus tickets, Kacey and her fifteen-year-old sister, Livie, escape Grand Rapids, Michigan, to start over in Miami. They're struggling to make ends meet at first, but Kacey's not worried. She can handle anything—anything but her mysterious neighbor in apartment 1D.

Trent Emerson has smoldering blue eyes and deep dimples, and perfectly skates that irresistible line between nice guy and bad boy. Hardened by her tragic past, Kacey is determined to keep everyone at a distance, but their mutual attraction is undeniable, and Trent is desperate to find a way into Kacey's guarded heart—even if it means revealing an explosive secret that could shatter both their worlds.

This is a pretty powerful and emotional story. These two sisters, Casey and Lizzie go through so much heartache and loss. It really touches light on the choices me make in life and how to cope with so much pain. While it delves into the pain associated with those lost due to mistakes like drunk driving, it also opens the reader up to the anguish of both sides. How many times have we done things we wished we could take back? In a moment of split decision, EVERYTHING can be taken away. Everything can change in a mere instant and turn lives upside down. Hate is so easy. It's exhausting, but we tend to want to hold onto something...anything to explain the why. There's a need to blame and lash out at something. How do we forgive when all we want to do is hang onto the anger when the anger becomes our only line of survival? This story is truly gripping. The characters were strongly written. I could imagine the strengths and weaknesses along with the various struggles they were all going through. I could imagine the scenes as they unfolded. Honestly, I believe I had actually read this before, but what the heck, I just listened to it possibly for the second time. It's worth the time.

It was obvious from early on how the story was going to go. The story dragged on and on. The book could’ve been shortened. The narrator was very monotone. No real emotion to her voice. If you want to try a book by K.A. Tucker I would recommend The Simple Wild.

SPOILERS• The ending to the story was garbage. How you can accept someone back into your life after finding out they’ve been stalking you for 2 years and purposefully inserted themselves in you life? He went full Joe on her and she was made to accept that through a therapist his family paid for?? And this isn’t even a psychological thriller it’s a freaking romance novel!! Yikes. The car crash thing is understandable to forgive and I think important to her character development, but no one in their right mind would let someone back into their life who HACKED THEIR EMAIL to see where they were moving to and move into the apartment building. It’s creepy and sick.

Love the book, hate the ending if I’m being 200% honest.

I read One tiny lie first so I expected this book to be as good as, but it wasn't. All in this book was hard for me to believe... I did't get that "love vibe" with Kasey and Trent like I did with Livy and Ashton. Not bad, but not good!
