- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5loved it really wished to know truth though it would have been amazing to know real truth
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent and as all her stories very heart warming....with an NFL setting, very interesting and gives an excellent insight of foster children.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Read it for a book club. While it prompted good discussion, I was not overly impressed with the book. It is not my taste, so my assessment may be a little tainted. The message was nice, but the writing left me wanting.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Predictable, sappy, churchy and amazing. This isn't the type of book I am into, but I really enjoyed the change of pace for me. Aaron Hill, Derrick Anderson and Megan Gunn were believable, strong characters. Kingsbury did a good job of demonstrating some problems with the foster care system, though I feel like she glossed over some of the positives and focused a lot on the worst case scenario statistics; appropriate, though, if you are trying to reach/scare an uninformed audience. Easy read that I plan to pass on to a foster kid that I am working with.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Between Sundays is about a hotshot football player (Aaron Hill) who has it all-except for Megan Gunn who works at the foster care center nearby. She is different from most girls he's dated-she is strong, independant...and loves God? Just as things are looking up for Aaron, Megan's fosterchild gives him a letter saying that Aaron is his dad! He nor Megan believe him, they say it is a childhood fantasy that Cory made up. But could it be in the end that this 8 yr old boy actually knows more than appears?
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Kingsbury offers another tale that tugs at readers heartstrings--but there is a happy ending of course. It is set against the backdrop of professonal football and kids caught up in the foster care system. One of these kids, Cory, has been taken in by his foster mom Megan ever since his real mother died. She wants to adopt him but he is isistent he has a dad--and that dad happens to be the star quarterback of the San Francisco 49's. Megan doesn't believe that this could be true, but the efforts of another football player gives Cory a chance to deliver a message to his "real dad". What follows is the story of how this quarterback learns that what happens "between Sundays" is just as important as what happens on the field. The story was good enough, the audio version I listened to was terrible. I'm sorry, but the narrator tried to hard to make different voices for the characters, but her characterizations were distracting at best. If you like emotionally laden stories give this one a read--but stay away from the audio version.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The story line is moving and keeps you involved right from the beginning. Derrick is the "man" and he give thoughout the story... yet there are lots of twists and thought provoking messages. Something that you'll enjoy for a long tome to come.
