About this audiobook

The darling daughter of a champion Thoroughbred breeder, Camille “Cami” Hines has a pedigree that rivals some of her father’s best horses. Other than feeling a little suffocated at times, Cami thought she was happy with her boyfriend, her life, and her future—until she met Patrick Henley.

“Trick” blurs the lines between what Cami wants and what is expected of her—and he just happens to be so sexy she can’t keep her hands off him. While they both know that Trick will lose his much needed job on the ranch if anyone finds out, they can’t resist the lure of their scorchingly hot encounters.

But when Trick stumbles upon a note from his father, it triggers a series of revelations that could ruin what he and Cami have worked so hard to overcome. It turns out there’s more to Trick’s presence at the ranch than either of them knew, and secrets with the power to tear them apart…

This one had its ups and downs (unfortunately a lot of downs) but I enjoyed the story nonetheless.

A love story between Cami, the Daddy-little-girl who had enough of being treated that way and Patrick "Trick" the hard-working-boy who supports his widowed mother, has a passion for horses and falls (mostly in lust then in love) for the wrong girl who happens to be his boss' daughter. There was a lot of drama, the kind I would have LOVED if I were handed the book 4 years ago, but not right now. I was hoping for a more serious couple-issues rather then their families feud and deep-buried dirty secret.

The characters felt shallow at moments, more feeling each other up and wanting to get it on, which would have been fine with me if it wasn't taking 50% of the book.

Albeit my complaints I liked M.Leighton's book and writing and I'll check some of her other books who had a lot of praise. I hope I will like those more

I read this as part of a book club read and really loved it. It was fun and steamy at the same time.Let me tell you Trick is Hot with a capital "H". He is such a lovable, honest - say it like it is kind of guy, that really knows the right things to say to a girl at the right time.
"But then I'd just have to make it my mission in life to make you blush. By whatever means necessary."
and then this, when telling Cami just how he would take her mind off Brent "I'd be all you could think about. You'd think about my smile all day and my lips all night." - **sigh**

Just like that, I'm his. Whether he knows it or not and so sets the tone for this relationship.
Throughout the story their banter was playful and fun while heating up the pages. The first time they set eyes on each other, they are mesmerised and their thoughts do little to cool the pages either.

And there's something so sexy about the way his jeans hang on his hips. I can even see those little dents at the bottom of his stomach. If I'm being honest, I really just want to walk right over to him and touch them. With my tongue. Let me just add that the desk scene is a scorcher.

I really liked the storyline but would have liked to get into the characters a bit more and to get more in depth with the story. The last couple of chapters for me went really fast and I would have loved this to be extended.

Overall a great read that I would recommend.

I really enjoyed M. Leighton's Down To You, but this one just didn't work for me. Cami didn't seem to have any personality or mission beyond her obsession with Trick, and the chapters in Trick's voice didn't sound distinct and masculine enough for me. Jenna was fun in the best friend role, but Rusty's one liners were so groan-worthy that I didn't connect with him as a character.

I think I loooooove Michelle's perverted and wildly creative mind.

Trick Henley spills his drink all over Camille Hines. And then he kisses her, and plays for her. And when she sees him again in her father's ranch as one of the stable hands, **SPOILER** all of her father's hopes that his former business partner's son and his own daughter will never be involved is out the window.**/SPOILER**

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The way she writes UST and relationships always makes me want to hook up with her characters.

I'm waiting for a publishers to sink their teeth in her. Calling all publishers...

I expected this to be something of a cross between fluff and smut. But I don't think I got either! I liked it despite it being your typical boy-meets-girl story.

I mostly liked it because I felt the characters were well thought out and the obstacles they were facing actually made sense. I thought both characters were actually great. And I really loved the horse and car talk :).
I loved Trick's (seriously, best character name, ever) integrity and that he didn't want to start something with her while she was with someone else. It was somewhat of a foreshadowing, but I didn't know what happens in the end so it's not like I realized it at the time.
Cami (I prefer her real name, though, Camille) was just your typical girl with something close to daddy issues.

I didn't like it because...well, the whole love-after-three-sights thing? Authors seriously need to get over this. There is nothing better than reading about characters falling in love over a period of time, it feels real. This? It's more lust. And I approve of that, as long as the I-love-yous don't come after a month. Too intense, too fast.

Overall, I was surprised at how tame this was. When it comes to writing I had the same issues I had with "Down To You". The narrative had short, simple sentences that just felt abrupt. But unlike "Down to You", which was kind of a guilty pleasure, I really really liked, this was just good.

Lisa Hines's review Jul 14, 13 · edit3 of 5 starsRead from July 04 to 05, 2013, read count: 1How hot can one guy get?!? Patrick "Trick" Henley can get pretty hot! He's smart, dedicated, kind, patient, and hot! He loves his family, he loves horses, he loves Camille "Cami" Hines (yes, that is my last name too :-D) but does his best to keep away from her or he risks losing his job. Sounds like a simple story of daddy doesn't want daughter dating boy from wrong side of tracks, right? Um, no - there is one heck of a twist in here that will have you saying "What the Heck?!?" or worse. My only problem with this book was that I was expecting more detailed heat and steam but the hot stuff started and that's where the book faded into the next scene or chapter.

This was, perhaps, the most predictable book I've read this year. That would be why the rating sits at three stars. Not that three stars is bad, it isn't, it means I liked it. The story, in itself, is fine. A bit of a star-crossed lovers tale set in southern, upper-crust, horse-breeding society. But it boasts more soft curves rather than twists in the plot. A fact I could overlook if other aspects of the book were spectacular. Here's the jist... Cami is home from college. Home is a fancy house on a fancy horse breeding ranch with a father who thinks she needs to be with a fancy guy, which she already has. A night out with her best bud Jenna leads to a chance meeting with Patrick "Trick" Henley. This meeting is one of those unforgettable moments that young woman obsess over for days on end. Cami is no different. When her father's new ranch hand turns out to be Trick, she begins to question what she really wants out of life. Turns out they don't align with what her father wants for her. Do you do what you need to do to please Daddy Dearest and ensure Trick keeps his much needed job or do you follow your heart, dump your boy-toy and rebel? There is some old drama that makes the situation for Cami and Trick worse but I won't go into those details for fear of spoiling anything. Again, once that part of the plot started it was fairly evident where it was going to end.I can overlook a lot of flaws in a book if I love the characters. In this case I loved Trick, his best friend and Cami's best friend. All three brought an aspect of fun and playfulness. I did not have quite the same feel for Cami, I liked her but she took time to grow on me. I think I needed her to be stronger from the start. As for her dad and Trick's mom...well, I didn't particularly like either. Though, I don't think I was really supposed to.Wow, this is sounding much more negative than I intended. It was not my plan, at all. I really did enjoy the story it just lacked a bit of intrigue and, honestly, steaminess. The cover and warning lead me to believe it would be more graphic. Still, all in all, a fun quick read with a few characters that are sure to please!

The Wild Ones by M. Leighton4/5 starsSource: AuthorFor no particular reason, I never use passages/lines from the books I read in my reviews. Today, I am going to throw caution to the wind and lead with a super-awesome excerpt. Hold on boys and girls, this one is kind of hot.“Another of whatever Cami is having.” He turns back to me, a wicked gleam in his smoky eyes. “Sorry about your drink. Not so much about your shirt, though,” he admits candidly.Willing myself not to blush again, I tilt my head. “So, do clumsy strangers have names in this place? Or are you just called ‘bull in china shop’?”The lopsided grin comes back. “Patrick, but my friends call me Trick.”“Trick? As in trick or treat? That kind of trick?”He laughs and my stomach flutters. It actually flutters.“Yep. That kind of trick.” He sobers and leans in close to me. “Cami, can I ask a favor?”I’m breathless again. He’s so close I can count every hair in the stubble that dusts his tan cheeks. For just a second, his clean manly scent overrides the cigarette smoke and stale beer smell of the bar.I lose my voice – again – so I nod.“Pick ‘treat.’ Please, for the love of God, pick ‘treat’.”Like an idiot, I say nothing. I do nothing. I simply stare. Like a . . .a . . .well, like an idiot. He makes a disappointed noise with his lips and then starts shaking his head. “Too bad. Woulda made my night.” (Kindle, 1%)With that dear reader, I was totally and completely head over heels in lust with Trick! Little did I know this naughty exchange was the first of many throughout The Wild Ones and set the tone for the entire book. Trick is a bit down on his luck but is in no way giving up on his dream of becoming a veterinarian. He has come home to help out his mom and little sister and until he can get back to school, he has taken a job as a stable hand at the local horse ranch which just happens to be owned by Cami’s dad. Trick sure didn’t see that one coming and daddy has already warned ‘the help’ to stay the hell away from his daughter. Here’s what I liked about The Wild Ones:*Trick: absolutely, positively, and without doubt one of the best male leads I have come across in quite some time. For me, the entire plot and novel is carried by this single character. Trick is just good: he puts his own dreams and goals on hold for his family; he is gifted and passionate about horses – creatures he treats with the utmost care and respect; he is intelligent; he is confident and; he is smokin’ hot and knows how to turn a girl on.*the almost naughty bits: I have to admit this is one of the hottest books I have ever read that has no actual sex scenes. Yep, you read that correctly, there are no actual sex scenes but there are some mouthwatering flirtations that leave everyone all hot and bothered. Trick and Cami do eventually do the big dirty but not before a lot of smoldering and frustratingly incomplete moments. To be frank, there is a butt-ton of sexual frustration for Trick, Cami, and the reader *the plot: this is a novel where the past and present come hurtling toward one another and crash violently in the present. Cami and Trick’s respective parents absolutely forbid their children to see one another and neither has any idea why this would be so. Once the past comes to light everything in Trick and Cami’s world comes apart and their tenuous relationship is threatened. The secrets that come to light are as interesting as they are surprising and certainly enhance the plot. The only thing I really didn’t care for with this novel is Cami. I really wanted to like Cami but her fickleness and penchant for secrets in the beginning is as off-putting as her indecisiveness about her actual boyfriend and Trick. I get it, Cami is young and doesn’t want to disappoint her daddy but her actions with regards to both her boyfriend and Trick are just wrong. Cami leads both men on while waiting for the universe of someone to provide her with the one bit of evidence or truth that will allow her to make the “right” decision. In the end, all Cami gets and causes is pain. The bottom line: I really did enjoy The Wild Ones and think it would be a more than acceptable and certainly entertaining read for adults interested in both romance and a tiny bit of mystery. For me, the entire novel was carried by a single character – Trick – and I am absolutely OK with it. Trick is a character worth cheering for, the plot is fairly fast-paced, and the almost naughty bits are every bit as good as actual naughty bits. Pick this one up and I swear you won’t be disappointed.

Okay, so can I say absolutely wonderful!!! The Wild Ones was an incredible story of love beating all odds. At first glance I noticed the cover of this book, and the explicit warning and expected, for lack of a better word, smutty book. I never anticipated such an incredibly wonderful love story. This was amazingly written with the readers guessing until the very last page. Trick and Cami are the two main characters, and share this story in alternating points of view. The two of them have some smoking hot chemistry which leads to the explicit warning, but while the author does delve into sexual scenes there are only three in the entirety of this book. I hate that this cover and warning would be readers first impression, because it truly does not do such an amazing story justice. It is easy to see straight off that this relationship will have obstacles. With the combination of Cami's Dad, financial struggles of Trick's family, and the ever present Brent (Cami's Boyfriend) readers will anticipate a suspenseful read. Although, when I was completely blind sided by the actual climax of the story it was nothing that I had anticipated. This is not your typical everyone is in love, and live happily ever after conclusion. Although, it offers a happy ending it proves that something can't be changed. What is important is what's best for you!!!!!!
