About this audiobook
Love is in the air at William Gladstone Middle School, and even super-rational Emma-Jean Lazarus is carried away. Her heart flutters in the most peculiar manner whenever she sees Will Keeler. Does this mean that she should invite Will to the upcoming seventh-grade dance? Emma-Jean's new friends say no, but how can they be sure?
And what about the mysterious note that Colleen has discovered in her locker? Finally Colleen has a boy who likes her! Just thinking about him makes Colleen feel brave and strong. And she is convinced that her genius friend Emma-Jean will find out who it is so Colleen can ask him to the dance.
But as Emma-Jean knows, nothing is simple in the seventh-grade wing, where misunderstandings lead to disaster. And this latest adventure takes Emma-Jean into the most mysterious and irrational place of all: her own heart.
From the Compact Disc edition.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Emma-Jean Lazarus is back and everyone's got spring fever. The Spring Fling is coming up and all her new friends seem to be able to think about is who to ask to the dance. When a mysterious note is placed in Colleen's locker, Emma-Jean is tasked with figuring out which boy wrote it. Emma-Jean prides herself on her logic, which is why she's so surprised to discover that she's got spring fever, too!I really enjoyed this sequel to Emma-Jean Lazarus Fell Out of a Tree. Emma-Jean is an interesting character and the story has a lot of heart. I think this could probably stand alone, but you'll probably enjoy it more if you've read the first book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Very sweet story of boys and girls in seventh grade. Emma Jean is such a lovely character.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A little less than four stars, to be truthful, but definitely closer to four than to three.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The Emma Jean series is sweet and smart. Specifically, the audio versions are fabulous! The reader, Mamie Gummer, narrated the first title as well and I simply cannot imagine meeting Emma Jean and Colleen without hearing their voices, their inflections and their oh-so-spot-on observations, always told in their deadpan or super-enthusiastic tones. Even if you have already read these, go listen to them, they deserve a second look, or listen!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Emma Jean Lazarus was a fun character. She talks as if she is more mature and knows all abour the male species. Spring Fever has hit her school and talk of the Spring Dance is everywhere. Emma and her friends plan a sleepover instead of going to the dance. Then one day at lunch they one of the girls announces they have asked a boy to the dance. Suddenly the others decide they will ask one. Colleen doesn't have a boy to ask. Later Colleen finds a mysterious letter in her locker telling her how special she is. Suddenly she has to know who her secret admirer is. She askes Emma Jean to find out who her secret admirer is. This was a wonderful story. I see thsi everyday at my school. The lesson learned from having that first crush, friends who really care and the mistakes that happen in true friendships are found throughout this book. I really enjoyed it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This review refers to the audio book read by Mamie Gummer. Not having read the first Emma-Jean Lazarus book, I didn't quite understand Emma-Jean's precise, peculiar, stilted, and clipped manner of speaking. (truthfully, I still don't) Early in the book, I assumed that the protagonist's precise mannerisms would annoy me; however, as the story progressed - a story of first loves, friendship, misunderstandings, and a loving home, I became connected to, and charmed by the characters. Although the foreshadowing was a bit obvious for a book aimed at grades 5-7, the sum of all its parts was much greater than I anticipated. Emma-Jean Lazarus Fell in Love is a positive and heartwarming story with a touch of humor.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Seventh-grader Emma-Jean Lazarus uses her logical, scientific mind to navigate the mysteries of the upcoming Spring Fling, her friend Colleen's secret admirer, and other love-related dilemmas.
