Descrição

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction.
Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

I loved this story.. We all know Love can be UGLY but it can also be Pretty. However the best loves are always the ones that start ugly and turn into the prettiest of loves!

Tate moves in with her brother and meets his friend and neighbor Miles. She's attracted to him, but he seems very standoffish. Her brother thinks Miles is gay and he admits that he hasn't had sex in six years - huge red flags, so of course Tate falls for him. He won't share anything about his past and tells her she can't depend on him for a future, but they can have lots of no-strings attached sex. Tate agrees (someone needs to smack her upside her head), thinking she can handle it and ignoring all the red flags.I love most of Ms. Hoover's books, but this one was a disappointment. While Miles is very attractive, he's so damaged that Tate stay far, far away. She's going to graduate school for nursing and also working, seems very practical, and I couldn't fathom why she would stick with him knowing from the beginning that he was going to break her heart. Most of the story happens very slowly which just made me wonder all the more why Tate was so weak. Her POV alternates with Miles's backstory which honestly was sad, but written as if a teenage girl was journaling in weird haikus and poetry. It was so overwrought that it made it hard to sympathize with Miles. The ending happens very abruptly and predictably. This story was just not one that I enjoyed that much.

At this point i'm just going to accept the fact that i have a Love-Hate relationship with Colleen Hoover's books . But i love her , she's such a nice spirit and fun!Going back to the book , i also read it without the slightest idea about its content . at first it was bit boring for me , and i admit i put it on hold for a long time until i finally decided to finish it a couple days a go .The writing style is obviously good since it's Colleen , i didn't have trouble getting into itThe characters were fun but i didn't find them interesting enough Tate wasn't that great for me , i found her to be very weak and annoying most of the timeMiles , i don't see the hype about him , he isn't that great either , i get it , the " boy with tortured past" kind of thing , but i didn't buy it ,i just didn't like it .i didn't like them or their relationship with each other i LOVED cap thought! he's such a sweetheart and he's funny the reason i gave it three stars is because i understand what Colleen was doing , and i loved the meaning behind the story and the entire concept about letting go of the ghosts of our pasts .I did cry while reading it , some parts were too much for me to handle so i'm warning you .i don't recommend this book , but i know some people would love it , so pick it up on your own risk . it just wasn't made for me

After reading it ends with us, I’m kinda happy and satisfied with this one. Not saying I wasn’t with the first, but at least it has and end that would make me sleep ❤️

    2.5

Well written, a quick read, but it hits all the cliches. Unfortunately it hits one of the worse cliches that it possibly could. That allowing yourself to be used by a broken person is okay, because one day that broken person will find a way to mend and admit they love you. The false hope this book provides to young gals looking for a love story, hoping for a Miles...just irritates me beyond belief. It's not that the story wasn't told well, it's just that it is not only unrealistic, it's dangerous.

Amazing. I'm speechless. But I know I need to write some sort of review because that's what authors need and deserve for their hard work. Colleen Hoover is one of the greatest story tellers of the N.A. genre. In this book alone I'm reminded of how vividly she describes her characters feelings, using emotions and hyperbole one wouldn't even consider unless living in the moment. At about 70% in I was able to appreciate how she gave us Miles` back story gradually, instead of right away with present day alternating POVs that I normally enjoy more. I also admired Tate because even though she allowed herself to be treated the way she was by Miles, she was confident enough to know the way he wouldn't allow himself to feel about her.I've said a lot in this review, but at the same time feel like I haven't said enough to do this novel justice. I can't find the words, which makes me confident UGLY LOVE will stay with me for a long time.

This was a great book. You get authors, then you get authors with talent, Colleen is one with talent. I love books where I am not sure if the relationship between charactors will stand the test of time, and this was one of those books

This story is the most tender, heartbreaking, beautiful love story I have ever read. I think the reason I fell so in love with it, is because of how the dual POV is written. Miles has an unbelievably horrible past that causes him to not really want love in his future. So his POV goes through that tragic part of his life. Tate's POV is in the present and goes through her time with Miles. Who she has agreed to a casual hook-up with.Tate is a smart, caring, and loving character. She realizes Miles has a painful past that he refuses to tell her about, but she wants to try to get him to reevaluate his future. Miles can be very intense, so she knows that it may not happen, but she hopes that it will because she has fallen in love with him. And I think it's great that she still doesn't give up hope because deep down she knows that something is happening between her and Miles and that she isn't the only one who has feelings for the other.I love how you slowly got to learn more about Miles through his past as opposed to his present. His POV is normally just a few pages long, but it makes you want to keep reading because you really want to know this big secret that has caused him such horrendous pain. Miles is different, and quite a remarkable character, to me. Nowadays, in most recent romance/ new adult books I've read, the male character with hardships in his past has either turned to drugs, alcohol, or sex to make him forget his past. And since Miles' past scars him so much that he doesn't seem to care for much in his future, I'm kinda surprised suicide wasn't in his cards. Yet, he turned to none of these things. He deals with all that pain crushing him every minute of every day. I think that's a grand testament to his character. The fact that he doesn't trade pain for an unhealthy habit that can cause him or others harm. He truly is one of the best male characters I have read in a while. Even if he can be a little douchy to Tate while he gets his stuff figured out. Everything about this story is remarkable. If you are one to cry or cry easily, you may shed a tear or two. I nearly did and I'm not one to cry often. But I would recommend this book to everyone, even if romance isn't your genre, this will not disappoint. It will just truly melt your heart.

This is a book that I went into completely blind, trusting Colleen Hoover to deliver a great story. And, of course, she did. My heart aches but at the same time I want to flip to the first page and read it all over again.

I think I can safely say this was my favorite book I read in 2014!

This was my first book by Colleen Hoover. All the hype over Colleen and this book were SO WORTH it!!! I now want to read every one of her books!

Words cannot even start to express the way I feel about this book!

"The only impressive thing about this apartment is the bookshelves in the living room. It's lined with dozens of The books, which is more of a turn-on to me than anything else that could potentially line his barren walls."-Tate

This book hit me in the feels, and there was a lot of them. Such a beautiful but sad story.
At times heart-renching, at times beautiful. This book was a roller coaster ride of emotions. Bittersweet!

Just read it! You will not be disappointed!

Oh my gosh. I'm tearing up; this was such a great book. I've heard so many good things about Colleen Hoover's books so I thought I might try one. I'm definitely going to read ALL her other books. Just watch me. >:) This book made me so emotional!

I accidentally read this in less than a day. Colleen Hoover is ruining my life

This book wasn't what I was expecting. What I mean by that is, between the name and Colleen, I expected some ugly tears. Now, don't get all disappointed by this. I am not saying there aren't parts that won't make you cry, there are. It's just I am a tougher cookie to crack. I was almost there a few times. I just needed more for the tears to fall.

I love how this book starts out. Tate and Miles' meeting isn't very typical or romantic. I couldn't help but chuckle a little. I found myself doing that periodically throughout the book. The slow friendship/relationship that builds between these two is bittersweet. It isn't instant and it is heartbreaking at times.

Colleen always seems to get me so far into her characters' heads that I can't seem to escape them for some time. I still catch myself sitting here thinking about them from time to time. That doesn't always happen!

Per usual, I am not going to go into the plot. You read the blurb. I am sure there are many reviews out there already that have delved into the plot and dissected it for you. I will tell you that the story has its own uniqueness that will keep you reading. I didn't want to put it down!

unique writing style. excellent moral. colleen doesn't know how to write anything less than a five star book.
  • (5/5)
5 stars doesn't do this book justice!! Clear your schedule, grab this book and a box of tissues, go to your favorite reading spot and devour this book just like I did. This incredibly real and emotional story is the best I have read this year and one everyone should read!

I've heard so many great things about this book. I was not expecting the turn of events in the end and the storyline is really well written. I really enjoyed the entire story and the chemistry between Tate and Miles was practically boiling. I'm also really glad this is a stand alone novel because it ties up the story just fine in the end and I love a good stand alone. I would recommend this book for a fun, sexy time.

This joins the rest of Colleen Hoovers greats hits! My only mistake was trying to finish it on my lunch break and coming back all teary eyed! Colleen Hoover completely undoes me every time!
