      It took me a while to get used to the author's voice, but after 100 pages or so I got caught up in the story. I would have liked Alex and Nathan spending more time together, interact more, because their relationship remained a bit shallow.
      However, the plot is solid and interesting, and I'll definitely read the next book in the series.

      This was very well written. Stayed suspenseful to the end. Not too mushy, but did have romance, and love scenes. Some procedural police and lab stuff included.

      From my Book Review Blog, Rundpinne..."Untraceable by Laura Griffin is the second novel I have read by Griffin but it is the first in her Tracer series. Do check out my review of Griffin’s second book, Unspeakable, which is just as brilliantly captivating as her thrilling first novel in the series, Untraceable. Her novels read well as stand alone novels, yet I believe her books to be so mesmerizing as to compel the reader to want to continue with the series. I could not put this book down; it truly is that captivating a mystery. In Untraceable, the reader meets Alex Lovell, a private investigator who has a specialty at making people disappear, in this instance, Melanie Bass, who was fleeing from an abusive husband. Suddenly Alex is being asked information about Melanie and is unable to locate her. Alex fears the worst and seeks out the help of Austin Police Detective Nathan Devereaux, her friend, Troy Stockton, who introduces Alex to the Tracers, and an elite forensics unit located in the Delphi Center. Griffin writes a brilliant mystery taking the characters from Austin, Texas to the French Quarter in New Orleans and back again to Texas. Griffin’s characters are feisty, strong, intelligent and extremely likeable, which makes the mystery all that more difficult to solve. Griffin adds a dose of romance throughout the novel, which adds a wonderful touch to the story line (and I am not usually a fan of romance novels). I read the novel from cover to cover, without stopping and I am still impressed with some of the plot twists Griffin added along the way. I eagerly await her third book in the Tracer series, Unforgivable, which is due out in December. I highly recommend Untraceable to anyone looking for a suspense-filled mystery."

      Alexandra Lovell has helped many people disappear, including Melanie Bess, who was anxious to escape her abusive husband. Against advice, Melanie comes back home, and Alex believes that her husband has killed her, but with no body, there is no investigation. Alex seeks help from Police Detective Nathan Devereaux. Nathan is an old friend, so she assumes she can convince him to help, but Nathan believes there is more to Melanie's story than she has told Alex. When Nathan and Alex seek the expert help of the "Tracers," they find out that there is a lot more to this case than they originally thought. Alex and Nathan both have baggage that keeps them from acting on an attraction to each other, but as they get more involved in the case, they find it more difficult to keep their minds strictly on business.
      The mystery of Melanie and her husband leads to a much bigger and more complicated mystery that isn't solved until the end of the book. The relationship between Alex and Nathan is very believable due to their previous friendship. Overall, Untraceable is a good beginning to the Tracers Series.

      Synopsis
      Alex Lovell helps women disappear but when one of her clients vanishes without a trace, Alex is convinced that her husband killed her and asks Austin PD detective, Nathan Deveraux, to help her uncover the truth. Skeptical at first, Nathan soon realizes that nothing is as it seems and Alex has put herself on a dangerous, if not deadly, path.

      Note: While this is the first book in the Tracers series, the characters appear in the earlier Glass Sisters series as well.

      A fast paced read with some exciting moments but the romance is mundane and underdeveloped.

      The suspense plot is interesting with several clever twists and turns, and a sufficiently smarmy villain. Nevertheless, there are also a number of plot holes and loose ends that could have been tied up more effectively.

      The romance is not the best mainly because Alex and Nathan are constantly at odds. There is no real reason for their attraction (other than sex that is) and she, in particular, runs a little too hot and cold for my taste.

      The characters, both primary and secondary, are human and realistic. Nathan is a strong hero type but he is divorced and his actions as a police detective, while appropriate, place him in conflict with the more emotional Alex.

      Alex's history is a little more complex with some family and relationship issues. Unfortunately, her characterization is not always consistent. For a supposedly intelligent and professional PI, she makes too many assumptions without evidence and takes everything at face value. There is also no explanation for her determination to help women on the run.

      The writing is good (despite the clumsy transitions between POVs), the forensic elements are compelling and the secondary characters, especially Mia and Troy, are interesting enough to continue reading the series.

      Part of Alex's work as a PI is helping women with abusive partners escape and start new lives. Six months ago she helped Melissa do just that, but is now concerned that she has returned to the local area and that Melissa's husband Doug has caused her to disappear for good. Alex turns to police officer Nathan for help, despite the fact that Doug is a fellow officer.This was an enjoyable mystery/adventure, with some romance thrown in for good measure, although I do get tired of stories where romantic partners rely on each other for help while concealing half what they know - I'm looking at you, Alex. Alex also gets help from a private, state of the art crime lab and I gather further instalments in this series are all set round people who work at the lab; the "Tracers". My ideal crime story would be more of a mystery and less of an adventure, but I think I'll look out for more in this series.

      This book was fast paced, with sexy men (I have a thing for guys fron lousiana lol), and a good thrill.

      Alex is smart. she isnt one to be pushed around or bossed around. And she just really holds her own. I love it.

      Nathan is from louisiana. Homicide detective (hotttt). And totally into alex. its sweet without being mushy.

      I love the pace of this book. Everything about the thrill was fun. I could not put this book up once I started it.
      I will def. be continuing the series

      On the one hand, I did finish it. I kept reading it, and even looked forward to reading it, and sometimes I didn't really want to stop reading it. On the other hand, I can't think of much I actually liked about it. I liked Mia and I liked the Delphi Center. Every once in a while I liked Nathan and Alex. But... there's not much spark. Alex is sometimes smart, but she usually just strikes me as dumb and reckless. Maybe she's good at what she normally does, but...getting involved in this giant adventure just seems out of her league, honestly. And they made a big deal about her computer skills, but do we ever see her use said skills? No. Never.The mystery itself was pretty good I guess. Every random thing that happened that I questioned eventually tied back in to the story, which I did appreciate. But Coghan's evilness seemed a bit...extreme, towards the end. And the ending was -way- weird. I... I just don't know what to do with that. I don't know.I just don't know.

      Still greatly enjoying Griffin's work, this is the third I've read in as many days. I'm beginning to see some commonalities (intuitive characters that always seem to know when they're being lied to), but I imagine that can be chalked up to the number of high-performing, law enforcement or investigative professions that are featured in her books. Alex and Nathan were a good mix, and I thought it was interesting that Griffin shows both of her main characters being faced with other romantic choices in this book. UNTRACEABLE also knocks out one of my least favorite police officials (something I didn't see coming), and introduces the Delphi Center. Parts of this book explain some forensic science that fans of police procedurals may take as a given, but I enjoyed how she explained how the Delphi Center accomplishes their "magic science". I'd be interested to hear if this level of performance is plausible in real life. On to the next book!

      I've been reading wonderful things about this series and I wanted to give it a try. Even though each book can be read stand alone, I'm the type who likes to read in order when I can so I went and bought the whole series. It was okay but there were some timeline issues which confused me - one of the characters has a baby and so, logically, she would have either been heavily pregnant at the beginning of the book or just having given birth - in either case - ew! I found it hard to follow the timeline - there weren't enough clues to tell me how much time had passed. The heroine, Alex, seemed a lot less competent in actuality than we were told she was. Even though this is the first Tracers book, Alex and Nathan had met in a previous book so I felt like I was missing something. I didn't hate it and will try the other books but this one didn't set me on fire.

      Untraceable is a stunning thriller that keeps the reader guessing as PI Alex tries to locate a missing client whose life is likely in danger. Months ago Alex helped Melanie start a new life in order to escape her abusive law enforcement husband; but now it appears Melanie has stopped following the rules Alex set and is back in danger. Along with an ex-boyfriend who’s on the board of a private DNA processing center as well as a cop Alex is starting to get romantically involved with, Alex finds herself in the middle of an investigation that will have huge ramifications for the city of Austin.The first in Laura Griffin’s Tracers series had me immediately hooked. Each surprising twist was believable given what had been established about the characters (and speaking of characters, each is well done with a distinct personality). Untraceable includes just the right amounts of drama and romance to make this remarkable story a must read.Received from the publisher

When she comes to him with her wild story of murder he is skeptical but willing to help and get closer to her. But police corruption and suspicious circumstances make him quickly realize that Alex may be putting herself in a danger he can’t protect her from. Unfortunately, Nathan is beginning to discover how much she means to him.This was a top notch thriller. Laura Griffin knows what she is writing about as every step in this novel was authentic and realistic. I actually felt like I was a part of a real investigation. It reminded me of when I watch CSI only it also had a great romance, too! While I enjoyed the developing relationship between the 2 main characters I found the mystery more engrossing. This story also had some surprises that thrilled me and kept me turning the pages until I finished in record time. This is not the typical suspense novel.       One of private investigator Alex Lovell's special skills is to help clients disappear while leaving bread crumbs that throw the pursuer off in the wrong direction. The key to this though is that the client sticks to the plan. When Alex finds out that Melanie Bess has not only left her hiding place in Florida but come back to Austin she is livid. Tracking her down to a remote cabin Alex finds a severed ipod earbud and a suspicious amount of blood which leads her to believe that Melanie's ex has caught up with her. Alex then takes her suspicions to the homicide detective Nathan Deveraux. Not only does Nathan think that Melanie is not truly missing but he also doesn't believe that her ex, who is an upstanding member of the Austin PD, is involved. But little by little the clues start to add up to something bigger than either of them suspected and if Alex keeps digging, she just might be digging her own grave.Untraceable is a the first book in the new Tracers Series but both Alex and Nathan are characters that appear in Griffin's Glass Sisters Series so starting the book they were already familiar characters for me. Griffin is truly a master of the romantic suspense genre. She captures the heat between Alex and Nathan perfectly and at the same time gives us a nail-biting plot that is fully developed. It kept me guessing until the very end and I never even figured who was behind the bad buys which was genius!! Untraceable is a recommended read for anyone who loves a perfect romantic suspense novel.

      This is labeled Romance, but it's really romantic suspense on the suspense end of the spectrum. Alex Lovell is a private investigator who occasionally helps people disappear. When one of her clients is missing, she is convinced that the woman's husband, a dirty cop, has murdered her. Alex seeks assistance from homicide officer Nathan Deveraux, with whom she has a past. Things get more tangled--and more dangerous--from there.Competent but nothing more.
