- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I've read this twice in the last few years. This is my third go-around. It's still the only Nicholas Sparks book I can tolerate.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5When I first bought this book, I was skeptical. I thought that it was going to be another cheap-schlock romance novel. After all, I wasn't a huge fan of other Nicholas Spark reads. However, I plunged into this book and each page gave me hope. This wasn't any cheap-schlock, this was a masterpiece. Everything harmoniously comes together at the end, and there wasn't a single thing I would change about it. You have to read this book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Life beholds many bumps, some bigger than others. One can be a sickness, while another can be a loss or even a separation. This is exactly what is portrayed in "A Walk To Remember" by Nicholas Sparks. A thrilling dramatic-realistic fiction story in a time when things were simple and someone only needed "A Walk To Remember". The story is a bout a rebel teenage boy Landon that changes into a caring, loving man that has found the thing he has longed for his entire life. Jamie is a humble, caring and generous girl who is very religious and loves her father. Reverend Sullivan, Jamie's father, that protects his daughter and is old fashioned. The two, Landon and Jamie, fall in love in Beaufort, North Carolina, a small town right on the coast in 1958. At first Jamie and Landon are nothing alike. She is careful and self-disciplined while he is reckless and careless. Their two paths cross when he is asked to perform in her play and soon needs help with his lines. The two slowly grow closer and soon fall in love until the main conflict gets in their way and their lives are drastically changed forever. I like "A Walk To Remember" because of the way Nicholas Sparks touched the readers hearts and made them feel like they were there for every minute of it. The author created tension by keeping the main conflict away for so long until the reader felt as if they were part of the book. I would recommend the book to any young adult who loves dramatic and romantic novels.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5If you enjoyed reading the notebook, this book is much the same. It is an easy read and a touching small town story about a 17 year old boy who falls in love with a girl he has known all his life, but never noticed.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent - tearjerker
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5i liked it, but it was a bit too simple for my taste.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Far Better than the movie!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I jumped on the bandwagon. I was into it, but it was just as sappy, if not moreso, than the movie. I did prefer the time period in which the novel was set, however.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was the first Sparks novel I read, when I was 14 or 15. My views on love has changed considerably by then, my taste on books as well, but I would still read this book at least once a year. I'm 22 now.
This book is short, it has a simple premise, it's probably the only Nicholas Sparks novel you should read. (I read other novels of his but nothing measures up to A Walk to Remember).
It's light, it takes me back to an age of innocence, and yeah, maybe I would like a Landon Carter for myself. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Meh. After my bad experience with the other two Sparks books I read, I only read this one because I liked the movie so much. I wouldn't say it was really worth the read... in fact I will say this is one of those rare cases where the movie was actually better than the book. The writing also seemed really amateurish in the book. I guess Sparks just isn't my kind of author. I won't be reading any more books by him, I feel like I've wasted my time, to be honest.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A very sad, sweet, tender book. Most of Sparks books are a little too sappy for me. This one was borderline. I did like this one better than Message in a Bottle. This one at least didn't leave me angry at the end.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One of my all time favorite Nicolas Sparks novels. I appreciate how religious this book is and how it is set in the 1950's. This is a very easy read and one of those books you cannot put down.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It's the autumn of 1958 and Landon Carter, a local "bad boy", is starting his senior year in high school. After deciding to take drama for an easy grade, he's thrown into a series of projects with the most unpopular girl in school and resident minister's daughter, Jamie Sullivan. At first Landon is hesitant and embarrassed, but after she ominously tells him not to fall in love with her, the two of them embark on a year that will change both of their lives forever.I don't usually read romance novels, and rarely do I pick up anything by Nicholas Sparks. However, I loved the movie adaptation with Shane West and Mandy Moore, so I decided to give the book a try. A Walk to Remember is a quick read clocking in at just over 200 pages. Sparks' writing style is also very sparse and basic. There is nothing difficult in his vocabulary, nor is there a lot of roiling action. Like another of his famous novels, The Notebook, this book is really more of a slice-of-life that tugs at the reader's heartstrings. It is nothing more than a simple story of a boy falling in love with a girl with the usual sappy Sparks twist.Personally, I felt that A Walk to Remember was just okay. The plot was cheesy, the characters weren't very deep or well fleshed out, and the settings were rarely described in detail. It was a lot like looking at a coloring book that hadn't been colored in yet. Sure, you can see the picture and tell what it is, but there is no color or nuance, just a plain black outline. The only reason I could easily picture the setting of Beaufort in my mind is because it is a place nearby that I've visited several times in my life, so I don't particularly need the description (though it would have still been nice). Still, it was a quick, quiet book that was easy to read on my porch with a nice, steaming cup of joe. Sparks fans will love it and devour it voraciously. Depending on whether a romance fan wants more action and less innocence, they might also enjoy this quick romp through Sparks' cheese-filled world. This book also features mentions of Christianity and God pretty heavily, which could be alienating for some readers. I imagine that the average reader could take it or leave it, that is why I give it three stars.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Choke, choke; sob, sob.A lovely little story about a group of teenagersin their Senior year. Our main guy and narrator,Landon, is one of the hip kids, who laugh and makefun of anyone who is a little different, etc. Our maingal, Jamie, is one of those kids who is a little different.By the end of the story, Landon's life has beenchanged for the better because of Jamie. This was a quick, easy, and soothing read and I reallyliked it and was moved by it. I realize that a storydoes not have to have a lot of depth to be appreciated.I recommend this book and rated it 3 of 5 stars.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I don't know what it is about Nicholas Sparks--he certainly isn't the most poetic and correct writer--but he sure can tell a story. His ability to make readers care about, and root for, and even wish to embody his characters is as fine as any other author's. This book is one of his best examples, and is especially relevant for high school students (girls) because of the age of the protagonists and the realistic depiction of all things high school, including the awful humiliations perpetrated by other kids. I think students also appreciate the honesty with which the topic of Christian belief is handled and the ways in which Jamie struggles with and finds acceptance in her upbringing, allowing it to bring her healing and peace even in the face of death.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Such a heart-wrenching book about faith, love, and living even when you are put to a major, life-threatening test. This book makes me want to improve my relationship with others, especially God before I run out of time. Nicholas Sparks is a great writer and makes you feel compassion towards the characters.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I loved the story, dramatic and heartbreaking and all, but I didn't actually like Nicholas's style of writing.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A walk to remember is very heart felt and touchy book about young love. It makes you think that a person that you might never even talk to could be a great person you just need a chance to get to know them.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One of my favorite books. I read this one probably when it came out and think down the road I will read it again. Its such a heart-felt story and you can't help getting tied up in.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another "marvelous" novel from Nicholas Sparks about young love surviving trials. A short read, hard to put down, and flows excellently.Five out of five!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is easily one of the best books I have ever read. It was a happy & sad book about young love. I recommend this book to young adults (teenagers) who love Nicholas Sparks's other books.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A great book for girls who like love stories. Really makes you smile and tugs at your heart strings.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book. The movie was pretty good. I didn't visualize anything the way it came out in the movie, and I thought Mr. Sparks did a better job with his imagery. Still a great read and good movie though.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is a very romantic, sad, and beautiful story. While reading this book not only you smile but you will end up crying. Landon was one of the popular guys in school. Landon and his friend used to make fun of this girl named Jamie who is the daughter of a minister. She was a very kind person and she did not care about what people thought of her. She was also very quiet and walks around with her bible in school. She never had a boyfriend. Landon did not want to hang out Jamie or to be seen with her at all. But he was forced so that she can help him with his lines for a play he was doing in school and she was in the play as well. When he asked her for help at first she told him not to fall in love with her. He laughed and said he won't and that he will keep his promise. But as they started spending a lot of times together he started liking her. He did not want his friends to know that he liked Jamie because he was kind of ashamed of being seeing with her. But then after a while he did not care about what people thought of him being seeing with her. Since his friends did not like the fact that he was eight Jamie he stopped hanging out with them. Jamie really changed Landon, she made him a better and caring person. I really enjoyed this book. The reason i read the book was because i watched the movie before and i wanted to see how different the book was from the movie and some of my friends told me that it was a good book and that I should read it. I will give this book five stars. I liked the way this book was written. It was easy for me to understand the book and I was very into the book because the author explained things very well. I really like the way he explains things and the words that he uses are very touching and amazing. Even though i knew the ending and the story I was smiling in some points and I find myself being sad about what is happening on the story. And one thing that motivated me to read this book was because i have seen the movie and i knew it was such a good movie. And its one of my favorite movie. I wold love to read another book by the same author because I really loved this book. This is a very good love story book. I would recommend others to read it. Mita
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5In this book, Landon, a 17 year old boy, falls in love with the pastors daughter, Jamie. Before they could even fall in love Jamie had told Landon not to fall in love with her, but he did anyways. I am now more towards the end of the book, and Jamie has become very ill. Landon doesn't know what is going on with her until Jamie finally tells him that she has cancer. Landon is so worried and he doesn't know what to do. He wants to help Jamie and be there for her as much as possible. Landon would like to do anything that he possibly can to help out. In the end of the book, Landon is very confused about a lot of things and he doesn't know what he wants. Landon realizes that he wants to ask Jamie's hand in marriage before she dies. It was not only what Landon wanted, but Jamie always dreamed about it. Jamie accepted, and they ended up getting married. Landon loves Jamie so much that he never took off his wedding ring since the day it was put on to his ring finger. These two people stuck it out and got married even though the knowledge of death was upon them. This was my third time reading this book, and every time I read it, I get some sort of tears to my eyes. I highly recommend this book if you like love stories. Not only is it a love story, it is a story of how people can get through life and still love each other with the knowing of death and betrayal.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5In this book, it talks about a boy who isnt the biggest Christian in the world, who lives in a small town. There is this girl who he and his friends thinks is kinda wierd. But when Landon meets Jamie, who is the minister's daughter, she tells him to open his eyes and see that there is more to life. She is diagnost with cancer and Landon does all that he can to make her feel better. This book is a great book!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book is about Landon Carter a boy that falls in love with the Preachers daughter. It starts out that he has to go to the school dance because he is on the student counsil and no one in the history of his school hasn't had a date and been part of that. He asks her and she says yes, a few days after the dance she asks him to be part of a play that her father made many years before, that the seniors preform. It is important because it is the year she is going to be in it. after the play Landon starts to like her and he asks her out. Many months after he finds out something that scares him and it scares her. I first watched the movie of this book because it was on TV and I was bored. After I watched the movie I wanted to read the book. The book was better, like in most cases, it had more detail and it had more things happen than in the movie. Once I saw the movie I thought of the actors that played them as the people in my mind and that kind of made it hard for me to think of other things. Over all I thought it was a good book it took me a while to read is but it was good.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Very touching. Better than the movie, and a LOT different, even if the basic storyline is the same.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wonderful book and movie. Tearjerker for both. I liked the book much better because there is so much story and history that is missed in the movie. I have loved all the Nicholas Spark movies I have read so far. Can't wait to read another one.
