About this audiobook

Detective Wade Jackson is in for a shock when he’s summoned to the police chief’s office—his sergeant has been poisoned, and Jackson’s been tapped to lead the investigation.

But before the Eugene Violent Crimes unit has a chance to respond, two people are gunned down at a licensed marijuana nursery. Jackson and his colleague Detective Lara Evans are on the case—but there are more suspects than evidence, and the crime is baffling.

Soon, more people are hospitalized, and when Evans discovers a link between the poisonings and edible pot, she and Jackson suspect that the product tampering and shootings are connected.

As the task force investigates new leads, it’s clear that the detectives are on a dangerous trail, one that forces them to question everyone—even their own team. But they’ll have to uncover the truth fast…before the next victim falls prey.

Detective Wade Jackson is sent to investigate a double shooting at a legal marijuana factory. Resulting in many suspects to interview. Meanwhile his sergeant has been poisoned and is seriously ill in hospital. Is there a connection between the two events.
Interesting rounded characters make this an enjoyable read. Now having read the first and eleventh in the series maybe it's time to read the rest.
    A Netgalley Book.

It was nice to spend some more time with Detective Wade Jackson. This was a fairly complex story with a few interweaved links that only became clear towards the end and quite a shock when you found out who was behind the murders and why. Quite a lot happened towards the end of the book, and a few fundamental changes for Wade too. I do recommend this interesting Detective series set in Eugene, U.S., however this one was not my favourite one.

I requested this book because I visited friends in Eugene, Oregon this year and reading a mystery set there sounded like fun. I see now that this is Book 11 in the series and so maybe that was not such a good idea.Ms Sellers tries hard to make this book a standalone – she tries too hard. It reads as if she went through the text and if she found a paragraph that did not have a tidbit of health, spiritual or relationship backstory in it, she crammed it in. After one health report that weird, jarring Super Bowl 50 advert on opioid-induced constipation flashed into my mind.My friends, If you are writing a book, when it comes to backstory, less is better.I received a review copy of "Death Deserved" by L.J. Sellers (Thomas and Mercer) through NetGalley.com.

I received a free advance e-copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a great suspense filled thriller full of twists and turns. There is a murder at a licensed marijuana nursery plus two people are hospitalized and in critical condition after eating marijuana containing brownies. The action never quits. I couldn’t put it down until the very end when the author finally reveals the killer, someone I never suspected. This is a well-written novel with excellent character development and a well-developed plot. I look forward to reading more about Detective Jackson and his coworkers in the future.

This was my first exposure to the Detective Jackson series and now I am thrilled to have 10 more books to add to my to-read list. Even though I did not have the back stories from the previous books, there was enough information to make this viable as a stand-alone read. Great characters, excellent storyline and intriguing suspense make this a very satisfying read. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
