About this audiobook

From Jessica Park comes Clear, a thriller, a paranormal, and a passionate romance that crosses genres and breaks boundaries.

Stella Ford's grasp on reality is already loose, and it's about to come undone. When the college junior flees Chicago and leaves her toxic family behind, she heads for coastal Maine to find the one person who brought her peace years ago: Sam Bishop. But the Sam she once knew now has painful secrets.

Stella is determined to heal them both. Healing, however, is a challenge when the walls of her everyday existence collapse, and when Sam's best friend is his worst enemy.

After spending four years in the frigid north, including suffering through one memorable Halloween blizzard, she decided to set out for warmer climes. I really really wanted to love this book because I adore Jessica Park and her other books but this one was just OK for me. There are a lot of things I like about it and quite a few things that I didn't like. I really enjoyed the first half of it. Jessica Park is an amazing writer who can make you feel like you are in the book. I was feeling just as disoriented as Stella in the beginning. I think part of this was due to the fact that I realized that I had no clue what this book was really about. The synopsis doesn't give away much on the main plot which definitely made things more interesting. It was right at about half way where a couple of different twists come into play that I didn't really enjoy. I felt that the sex was too much. Don't get me wrong I love a good steamy sex scene but I just don't think it was necessary to make the main plot interesting. It made the book border line erotica for me which that just really isn't my thing or what I was expecting. Maybe Jessica Park was hoping to target that audience in which case works I guess. I also didn't really like that Stella became a death tripper. Why make every single character one? Was that really necessary? She could still have been Sam's power augmenter without it. It just upset me. I felt like I was reading about a bunch of drug addicts which didn't sit well with me either. I like to read to escape and reading about addicts is not my idea of a good reading experience. Overall, I think the writing was amazing and I will continue to read Jessica Park novels. This particular book just wasn't what I was expecting and not the type of book I usually read. I do enjoy paranormal romance novels but I don’t think Clear really falls into that category. It’s kind of a whole different book genre on its own.
