About this audiobook
The Groundbreaking Guide to Self-Healing and Getting the Love You Missed
Was your mother preoccupied, distant, or even demeaning? Have you struggled with relationships-or with your own self-worth? Often, the grown children of emotionally absent mothers can't quite put a finger on what's missing from their lives. The children of abusive mothers, by contrast, may recognize the abuse-but overlook its lasting, harmful effects.
Psychotherapist Jasmin Lee Cori has helped thousands of men and women heal the hidden wounds left by every kind of undermothering. In this second edition of her pioneering book, with compassion for mother and child alike, she explains:
- Possible reasons your mother was distracted or hurtful-and what she was unable to give
- The lasting impact of childhood emotional neglect and abuse
- How to find the child inside you and fill the "mother gap" through reflections and exercises
- How to secure a happier future for yourself (and perhaps for your children)

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book has been the most helpful I have read so far. The exercises are amazing. I just love how the author helps you to understand some of the things that didn’t make sense. I know it’s a long road to healing, and it’s only begun but this book has given me hope for a brighter future.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a nourishing book. This book is so eye opening about so many aspects of motherhood plus about healing your inner child, I felt overwhelmed at some point while listening to it.
I finally understand why I feel the way I feel as an adult especially about my attachment style5 people found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5She did a great job, tackling such a taboo topic considering the sanctity of motherhood in all cultures and the backlashes that anyone can face by criticizing mothers and their covert/overt impact on our mental health in adulthood

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is actively saving my life and my relationships. I did not realize the overwhelming amount of childhood trauma I was holding onto until I repeatedly had issues communicating in my marriage. I finally know why I act the way I do and I finally feel that there is true healing on the horizon. I felt my trauma freeing itself with every chapter and I came to some hard conclusions about myself. It will take some hard work but I am willing to do it in order to be a better human being.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a really good book with a lot of helpful information, but I cannot get over that the narrator says "edible complex" when she's clearly talking about Oedipus complex. (chapter 11)
