About this audiobook

Once, Emi believed the heavenly gods were righteous and wise, while the earthly
yokai spirits were bloodthirsty and evil. But with a traitorous deity poised to destroy her world, and the yokai standing as humanity's only defense, the lies of her upbringing have toppled to reveal a far more terrifying reality.

Despite the looming threat, Emi can't escape her greatest distraction: Shiro, the fox
yokai who has so deftly claimed her heart for his own. Soon-too soon-she will have to break the curse that binds his magic and memories. And once the ancient power inside him awakens, the yokai she loves will be changed forever.

As the earthly gods gather to wage war against the heavens, Emi and Shiro must gamble everything to turn the tide against their immortal, all-powerful foes. Together, they
will find a way to save her world-even if it means losing each other.

This book series was full of twists and turns. The characters were delightful and well fleshed out. The character arcs were well thought out and the action scenes were exhilarating. The main romance was a wonderful mix of cute fluff and gut wrenching angst. All around the world building and story was very enjoyable. 10/10 would strongly recommend

This is going to be the worst book hangover ever. I NEED more.

The last book in the series was a triumph! Definitely still feels like it takes place in the same world as inuyasha, but the characters fully shine as distinct, memorable people, not as rehashing of others. This in the installment of the series was much less predictable than the first, and has real emotional weight. The ending was very unexpected in a good way. Loved it!

I did like it. I thought she should’ve died too but either way good. I’m not so interested in the authors other novels though

Emi has found three of the four missing Kunitsukami but there's still one left to find and time is running out...This was incredible. I was hooked. I flew through the pages. The plot, the romance, the humour, the characters, all of it was just incredible. Emi has grown so much over the trilogy. She started out so unsure of herself and her place beyond being a kamigakari (human host of a goddess) but over the course of the series, she's evolved - she's making friends, trying new things and making sure to live every single moment to the fullest. And through that, she's come into her own, finding her confidence and sense of self and inner strength and I loved it. I adored the friendships Emi develops with everyone too. She gets Yumei onside and the rest of the Kunitsukami's and Nanako and Katsuo and it was nice to see her have so many friends who cared about her. And the relationship between her and Shiro. Holy fk! It was utterly explosive. Their chemistry was off the charts. Looking at it critically, it's totally instalove - they've known each other like two weeks - but I just didn't care. They had me swooning and feeling all fluttery and adamantly shipping them so hard. There was sweetness and sexiness and friendship and laughter and so much love. And the ending. HOLY FKING HELL. I did not see that coming. At all. What a twist. What a heart wrencher. I was riding high and then so so low and then high again and I'm a mess. This book gave me so many feels. I got to the part where Inari is gone and I was just like NOOOOOOOOOO don't you dare do this. But then reality set back in and I was like hmm but there are still like 70 pages - how on earth is this going to wrap up and then I got hit with 7 years later and I was just like WTF and her friendship with Katsuo and Yumei and Miyako but then it's like but SHIRO and then it was downhill and then totally back up hill and yeah. Mess. Absolute mess. I just can't get over how incredible the end to this series was. It was fantastic. It was satisfying. It's a must read. 5 stars.

This is the third, and final, book in the Red Winter series by Marie. This was an amazing book and an amazing conclusion to this series. Definitely my favorite book in this series. I still didn’t enjoy this series quite as much as Marie’s Steel and Stone series; however it was still a very good series. This book jumps right into action. There is so much amazing magic and fighting right away. The pace of the book is relentless and it took my breath away at points.Marie not only makes amazing characters (all of the characters in this book are spectacular...even the side ones) but she builds a phenomenal world that complete engrosses the reader. Additionally I am always incredibly impressed with Marie’s ability to write action scenes; some of the battle scenes are incredibly complex and Marie does an amazing job of making these action scenes exciting, easy to follow, and easy to picture.Emi really blossoms as a character in this book; she continues to have a quiet toughness that is impressive. In this book she really changes, grows, and finds her own place. Shiro is amazing as well; he gets more and more interesting as the series progresses. Then there are all of the other yokai and gods we meet; they are all intriguing and impressive.Overall this was a phenomenal conclusion to this series. I was incredibly impressed with this book and enjoyed it immensely. I will definitely continue reading Marie’s series as she writes them and can’t wait to see what she writes next.

Immortal Fire was my favorite book in the trilogy! It was all high stakes action and a panicked count down until the day Emi will end her mortal life and become Amaterasu. There were also some really cute and bittersweet sections. I was so touched by the scene at the beach.

The ending chapters killed me! Everything was so emotional and I was very distraught for a bit. However, *spoilers* I did get my happy ending and it was soooooo sweet *end spoilers* Immortal Fire was a powerful, well written conclusion to an excellent series. I was so sad to say goodbye to Emi, Shiro, Yumei and all the characters.
